For those that didn't know. I got caught in a huge downpour on the way home from the NMRA event at Milan, Michigan back on Friday, June 13th
$5300 damage to the car when it hydroplaned and tagged the wall on the e-way with the LH rear qtr. Car is fixed, good as new, but my feelings are still hurt.
Anyhow, I made a trailer for it to tow the Drag Radials, jack, canopy, cooler, BBQ grill and anything else that fits. I can take the cooler off and put the grill there to cook (can't afford $8.00 for a dog and soda at the track!) That is just nuts!

I sure understand the rain traction with them tires!
Im in Western Washington and...well you guessed it.
Luckly the girlfriend and the kids came with, so there wasnt enough room for everything in the mustang as we planned to camp over on the 4th of July, at the track. Well friday night it started raining, and around 1pm on sat, we wated long enough for the rain to stop, and called it a weekend, and off we went. I drove about a mile and noticed it SUCKED, but it let up some so we drove on another 10 miles or so, before I gave in and pulled over to pull the drag radials, luckly we packed the street tires, just in case, being we were over 100 miles from home. it PAYED OFF bigtime to drive the Mustang and the Explorer both! I have no doubt it would have ended BAD, as soon as we pulled over to swap tires it DOWNPOURED bigtime...
Glade to hear all is well and your ALIVE!
Looks great. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but i just can't see a mustang towing something....
My buddy does the Cannonball for 9 days with his Thule trailer in tow. It's good to about 120 mph LOL.
That's where I got the idea from. He hauls tools, 2 spares, brakes, rotors, clothers, etc. Unhooks at the various tracks they run, races and back on the road
It's not like I am going deer hunting with it or anything
Nah, spoiler probably wouldn't go down the 2 tracks very well
Thanks guys, I really like it. Plan to tow it to Bowling Green Kentucky for the final NMRA race. Race and drive home. 11.70's, 23 mpg and A/C with 6 disc. S197s are a blast!

That's what the tech guy said last week. "I've tech'd a lot of cars on trailers, but never one pulling a trailer".
Having fun with it that's for sure.

If I drive to the track on the MT ET streets, I make sure there is no chance of rain. I wouldn't get 10 feet without hitting something in the slightest rain. Usually I just put the two extra tires in the back, one on top of the back seat folded down and one in the trunk with the hydraulic jack. Glad to hear that the damage wasn't too bad and no other cars were involved.

oh i know how it is to be a passenger on the driver's seat haha
is the trailer meant to handicap the car to be fair to others?
Now that was funny. Only a handicap for the new Challenger, they don't put up much of a fight

thats an awsome setup, about mid season this summer i was tired of changing tires at the track and i live only 10miles from the track where im currently at in NC, and scuffing up my interior with slick smudge, you gave me an idea, when i move up to MA soon, the nearest track is going to be about 2 hours away, and i'll need some way to cart things up there cause i will need to spend the night with it being that far, awsome

I used to run my drag radials to and from the track.
One day we got rained out and on my way home when ever I would hit 40 mph the car would hydroplane.
It was scary!
There was no way to control the car at all.
The second time the car hydroplaned I went into the oncoming lane before I got it back under control.
I pulled over and after changing my shorts, I took the street tires out of the trunk and put them on in the pouring rain! Lucky I took them to the track this time!
Now I swap my tires evertime.
I too am now looking at building a trailer.
This year I am driving my car to LA, TN, NC, and MD to race in Pinks Allout. I want to take two sets of slicks and some tools. It is a little too much to put into the car, so a trailer is needed.
