Here's a site for FYI: The 289 High Performance

The HiPo cam was .477" lift, with a long duration. 306º I think?

But if you look at, for the day it may have been something, but now, it's no biggie. Cast iron exhaust and intake, Autolite carb (600cfm vac secondary), points, etc.

What you brother hit was the right combination is all. Those are great engines, the best 5.0L Ford built to date...and they put them in SUVs

As long as you are running that gear, you won't beat anybody. Unless it's from 80-120mph

Get the 3.50 gears, a stall converter and change your valve springs. Make sure the ignition timing is correct and proper curve. Then you should beat him no problem. I wouldn't go diving into changing cams until your current set up doesn't work. Seems to be good for your set up.

You left that whole rear end thing out in your 1st post

i dont know about putting nitro to but i'll do the gears and valve springs and see how much i can close that gap lol. i'm sure i will do much better after that. and if i don't beat him still, i will be happy with her having decent speed and looking sharp and sounding goood!!! with my flowmasters .
