OUCH!
My 66 K-code ran 14.6 with a stock bore, stock pistons, stock cam and dealer installed tri-power from the 60's. I ran at 450ft above sea level, hot summer day, over 85.
Cast iron manifolds, stock dual point ignition, Street Firestone tires, 4 spd and a 3.90 posi. I mean the car is the way you would buy it new in 1966, and then add tri-power. Pics in my profile.
If it's a genuine K engine and car...don't spray! Be a shame to trash a K code block.
I would say you need to get the timing curve right and get a smaller carb. You are over fueling that engine. No reason for a 650 dbl on a 289. Get a 600 vac. sec and properly jet it. Then a gear. Shelby under ride traction bars would help too! I do have those on.
You should have a 14.2 car there.
Have you joined the HiPo Mustang registry and tried asking over there? MoneyMaker (Alex) over there is a pro racer, he has the fastest stock block 289 in the world.
