Default 1994 Mustang GT 460 project

hello, i've got a 1994 mustang gt and i'm lookin to build a drag motor. I've got a 460 sittin around my house and i decided to build it up to possibly a 557 stroker. I'm wondering if you guys can help me with some inputs on kits and heads and things of the such to get a nice motor.
Looking to make about 1000 horse with spray so if anyone has an suggestions i'd love to hear them, Thanks

First you want to start by making sure that that block is in good condition. No cracks, able to be cleaned up and still have meat to be machined off.

Scat makes very good stroker kits and reasonable prices. No matter who you use see what brand of parts they are using in there kits. Make sure everything is forged. The crank could be SCAT 9000 series which will hold 1000hp.

You want that HP make sure you use the FORD Mortorsport alumn. heads, you will get great flow straight out the box or have them CNC machined with over sized valves. Using a Eldelbrock Victor manifold is best breather and has machined area all ready for fogger systems.

I have flat top machined pistons and have a compression ration of 12.5 to 1.
Make sure ALL clearences are checked!!

Big blocks are low rpm motors, you want torque to come in early.

Make sure you have enough fuel to supply with what ever way you build it. Spray/ No Spray!

The trans to use should be (Chevy) powerglide or turbo 400. Ford C6's require too much HP to turn and are heavy. C4's will not hold up long.

Talk to alot of different shops to see who offers the best K member package that will hold a 460 for your model car.

Asking alot of questions and reading will help you tremendously!

have i got some input for you bud! i took a stock block 2 bolt main, added the roller cam bearings bored .030 je pistons and hell fire rings for the spray. i used i-beam rods from eagle and that was the wrong thing to do. get the h-beam rods. i used a stock crank had it all ballanced. usded the kaase scj p51 heads and 1350 dom carb and eldibrock intake. sprayed 275 shot and ran 8.97 in the 1/4 with a 3000lb car. the problems i seen when i took the hirt engine out was really i used the wrong rods and the main caps started to walk.that kind of power you mite look at a motorspots svo block. they can take 2000 hp. it will live longer. if your interested in the kaase heads im selling mine. they wont work for a 600cui monster im working on. check out ohio crank shaft the sell 4340 steel stuff very cheap. a 4.50 steel crank was about 1000 bucks.

Here is another great tip. Checkout the guys at www.ford460.com. I am building a 1990 Mustang 460 car right now.. This whole site deals with nothing but 460 issues. Lots of great tech advice. Enjoy your new monster!
