Default First time at the strip

Hey guys whatsup Im new here. I have a 2003 Mustang GT thats bone stock besides a short throw. I desided to run my car at the drag strip bone stock then do some mods to see how much I can improve. First night I went (last Wed) my best time was a 14.8 @ 97mph. I went last night and I got a 14.4 @ 98mph with a 60 foot time of 2.38. The track is at 90 feet above sea level. Is that a good time? The car is bone stock no exhaust yet, no CAI, nothing.
I launching at about 2800rpm then feathering the clutch, I was powershifting into 2nd at about 5300rpm, then powershifting into 3rd at about 5300rpm and passing through the traps at about 6000rpm. hit 4th twice but I got 14.8's and my mph was about 97mph.

I just ordered an SLP Loudmouth I Catback, Steeda u/d pulleys and a Steeda timing adjuster which Im putting on this weekend then going back up Wednesday to see what my best time I get is. Heres a couple pics of my car....

The only thing I have done is a short throw shifter Mach 1 Grill delete and black "MUSTANG" inserts. Bought the car 9/9/08 only have had it for 5 weeks.

Thanks guys

The times you put up are dead on with the OEM specs and your 03' GT is a great Mustang to build on. Make sure to post some pics up of your newly installed performance parts

I just ran my n/a 05 4.0 liter today, and clocked a 15.0 at 92 and a 15.3 at 91.8, so I am thinkin that you have some room to work with. You have a hundred horses over me and that should be worth close to at least eight tenths. That 14.4 is good, but I bet that with pracice launching you will be in the 14.0-14.2 range.

Most of the GT's around here are in the high 13, low 14 second range on average. Your 60ft times are the thing to focus on.

A good set of DR's would do you wonders right now. If you drop your 60ft .3 on the front end, it will be twice that on the back end....

Those times are about right. If you lower your 60fts to 2.00-190s youll be running high 13s. Ive run my best 60fts running the Street Elimimator Brackets, you only get 4-5 runs (if you get eliminated) but they treat the track better. And try different rpms when shifting.Ive run my fastest times going from 1-2nd at 5800 and 5500 after that (4th gear through the traps). And try launching at 2000-2500 if you have street tires you might get a little less wheel spin.
