Tonight I'm taking my ol' '86 5.0 T-5 to Atlanta Dragway for my first ever pass down the strip. It has a Ram clutch and Flowmasters but the shocks are completely shot and the engine is running pretty rough. I'm praying to get into the 15's without having to have the car towed back to Jefferson. Any advice? Prayers?

Advice? Have fun that's why you're going right? Everybody has a first time and any practice you get now will help you later when you might have a faster setup.
Watch out though because I'm warning you, drag racing, especially with a stick car, can be very addicting. There is no known cure for the addiction either.
Good luck. If you can bring the car home without any breakage that alone should make it a good night. Let us know how it goes.

We're not the fastest car at the track but we might be having the most fun.
If you're not having fun, then you're taking this stuff too seriously!

just be safe.... you have nothing to prove to anyone
Well, as it turns out, the night got rained out. I made it all the way to the tech shed, then they stopped to let the rain pass and after about 20 minutes, they called it. Dag! It was a let down but I have a rain check for the first Fast Friday next Spring. I had to settle for a Starbucks and some good conversation about what might have been. Well, maybe by March, I'll have my new shocks and a 5.0 Power Tower if Santa's good to me. Then we'll see what she'll do. Thanks, Guys!
thats so true!!!! i ran a acura integra, this guy was eyeing me the whole time in the staging lanes, we pulled up and staged, and the last i saw was him crossing the finish line while i was on my way to pick up my slip, poor guy never had a chance, now everytime i see him on the street he just stares.
