Default Ice intake where

As the title says, where is the best place to ice down the intake when you are at the drag strip? I heard you shouldn't do it while waiting in line because you get the ground wet and people get pissed off but doing it in the parking area then waiting 45 minutes or so until your run is kind of pointless. So where should I do it?

wrap the ice bag in a towel and sit it directly on top of the intake

If you run a stock '86 to 93 intake, take your engine ID plate off first. It lets the bag sit directly on the air intake tube, rather than on an insulated air space under an aluminum plate.Cools it down quicker.

What ever you do, do not get water on the track. Make sure everything is contained. People use there A/C while stagging and end up dripping on the track. Stupidity thats all I can say. So do your fellow racers a favor and make sure you don't drip please!

I ice my CAI. One bag on the pipe between the filter and MAF and one between the MAF and TB.

Hey guys, the question may have been worded slighty wronge. I was wondering where I should ice so that I don't drip all over the place. aka not when I am about 20 cars in line. I know where to put the ice on the intake, Just where to do it so not to drip. I have my answer so thanks for the input.

This one cracks me up These A/C in the staging lane guys, I don't know about them! If it is too hot at the track do everyone a favor and just go home. This kind of stuff will get someone hurt and will waste time while they clean the track up.

NO A/C IN THE STAGING LANES!!!

corrcet me if I am wronge but isn't there a trick on just about stock cars where you run a/c and just before your run you turn it off and the AC setting still runs for a few and you can get a better time... Just something I heard

That has been suggested by a few people but I don't think it makes that big a difference. You better get to the track and run that 14.99, Pony. I'm almost there, just need a cool night!

The only vehicle I could think of that would benefit from running the A/C is the new Lighting. It actually has the A/C lines run through the intake

I don't know maybe it cools the air coming across the radiator, but if you just left the engine off in the first place and pushed it in the staging lanes it would cool down even more.

To me if somone wreck their car or got hurt because I was running my A/C to get a very minimal advantage, I believe the safest place for me to be would be as far away from the track as possible. People would be pissed!
