I was going to order 2 17x10.5 deep dish bullits for my Stang, and just keep the 17x8 up front and use the other 2 17x8 for some Nittos NT555R. Would I need to beef up my rear end so I wouldnt snap an axle?

Them 17x10.5 deep dish Bullits look sweet I was thinking of getting the same deal on my 1995 ..17X8 Bullits with 245-45-17 FRONT and 17x10.5 Deep Dish Bullits 315-35-17 REAR... I was thinking of the Nitto NT555 ...Its so hard not to just order them haha..
I wonder how them Nittos do in rain?
The Sumitomo looks like it would do better in the rain but the Nitto has a higher rating
What size tire you got on your front?
I dont know about the rearend ? I have a 8.8 rear I think it sould be allright.. Just a guess though

Yea I love the fat deep dish bullits. I really wanted to order the Black Bullits, 17x9 up front and 17x10.5 in the rear DD of course but thats alittle out of my price range at the moment.
My tires up front are 17x8 I plan on keeping them 17x8's up front but definatley 17x10.5 DD in the rear.
But I really want to know if its ok to Drag with Nittos without doing some rear end work?
Ive heard with the Mickey Thompson Drag radials you need to because there a reallllly sticky tire but Nittos you should be ok with the stock rear end. but im not 100% sure

you have auto or 5 speed either way the guy who said the mt or like slicks also the nitto 315 runs just a little smaller in width.but i have 4-10 gears with stock axel and nitto dr and im running a sc with h/i/c so i would think your safe
yea mines a 5speed. Ill probally have 4.10's in before drag radials. And thats good to know. I want to get my 60 foot around 1.9 area but I dont want to do a 31 spline and a differant carrier at the moment. lol

I really don't think you have to worry too much about breaking an axle on your car. I ran stock axles at the track for 140 passes this year with no problems. I'm on M/T drag radials with a T5, best 60 of 1.7 so I think you'll be OK.
Your car's heavier than mine so that works against you, but I'm making more power so it kind of evens out.
I am going to 33 splines and a spool this year, but then mine's primarily a strip car which is hardly street driven at all.
I was at the strip a lot this year and saw surprisingly few broken axles.

We're not the fastest car at the track but we might be having the most fun.
If you're not having fun, then you're taking this stuff too seriously!
I know that I used to run 26" ET drags on my stock 01. I used to launch just short of redline and I was getting 1.9 60' with 13.731@ 98.141mph. I ran 100's of passes on those slicks and never had an issue with the clutch or rearend. As long as you don't let the clutch slip, you will be fine.
you axles will not snap on nittos...it WILL SNAP on a dot slick or full slick 4 sure...my buddies 03 gt snapped his axle on the 3rd pass...13.1 was the best et i could muster up...i handed him the keys and told him where to launch at and SNAP!!!
and we are talking about 99-04 axles...not fox body ones...i havent seen one of those snap on a near stock car and high rpm launches yet
