Default Safety features of drag cars?

How do you make an 8 second car safe for the driver? I know the whole roll cage and racing seat/ harness and relocating the battery but is there anything else they do?

Certified cage, fire suit, shoes and gloves. Helmet of course. Trans scatter shield, drive shaft safety loops I believe two places, parachute, c-clip eliminators for the rear axles, locking dipsticks, no anitfreeze, electrical shut off switch. Gong that fast, I also believe that you have to get a liecense for that type of speed and times. These are things off the top of my head, I'm sure there is more.

All the answers are right here......

NHRA_RULES_2008

My other suggestion to you would be a copy of the book for future reference which you can order here.....

NHRA.com

Finally, yes you must have a competition license with any vehicle running 9.99 or faster....

And an extreme license running 7.50 or better (I believe that's the cut off).

Don't forget the neck brace! You also can throw in a parachute after 150mph.

All drivers competing in NHRA Professional categories, Top Alcohol categories, Comp, Advanced E.T., Super Comp, Super Gas, certain Super Stock classes as defined by current NHRA rules, Super Street, Top Comp, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Eliminator, Snowmobile, ATV, certain Nostalgia TF, Special Fuel, and E.T. cars or motorcycles with a dial-in of 9.99 or quicker (4.50 to 6.39 for eighth-mile) or 135 mph or faster (excludes motorcycles) are required to have a valid NHRA competition license and NHRA membership

to my knowledge there is not an extreme license class....

the are the pro classes which include nitro cars .....pro stock....etc

refer to page 52 of the rule book for clarification and requirements....
