Default Sway Bars. Keep or No? 1998 Mustang Cobra

Hey there me and my dad are building up a 98 cobra. I had just recently bought a 347 stroker to replace the 4.6. I have a c4 trans with a 5500 stall coming an suspension work done. When i ran at Budds Creek last year a guy told me to get rid of my sway bars. He told me it will help my 60ft because of the weight transfer. Is he right? should i take them off or keep them? please reply. And this is going to be a strip only car.

As long as you are going in a straight line yes. But it will drift in the curves.

For a track only car it will be beneficial both weight reduction & tranfer of weight on launch....

which will help lower you 60' times.....

The Idea is to get the car to hook and taking the front sway bar will help you leave better because the front will come up a little quicker thus putting more weight on the rear tires

ditch the front sway bar for sure...get some strange 10 way struts up there too...what did you do wth the 4.6 dohc cobra motor? I wouldve left that baby in there!

im saving it for my moms car. she has a 97 cobra with just over a hundred thousand miles. i had a choice between a new 347 crate motor with 430hp an 450 tq for 5300 or a blower. i went with the fresh motor also cause its alot cheaper to tune a carb then injectors an electronics. an 4.6 is a huge motor for it to only push out 300hp is kinda crazy

If this is a car you drive on the street also, you'll just want to take the sway bars out at the track. Your car will handle like a pig without the sway bars!

I'm running without the stock strut tower brace and I can see what difference just the brace makes when turning, take the sway bars out with it and it won't be fun to drive on the street.

But for going down the drag strip... then by all means, take them out.

Leave the rear sway bar on it, it will walk around with you if you don't it keeps the rear in line with it self. Just go to the track and watch some of the cars that don't have one. Watch them from behind and you'll see what i'm talking about.
