I love the 1/4 mile. I hear next year they are loosing the lease on the land at out track. They are going to build a 1/8 mile track closer to where I live. I do not want to give up the quarter mile. Is`nt it where drag racing started is the quarter mile. My father inlaw grew up in California with the first drag racers and he said all there was , was the 1/4 mile. He has pictures of all the great ones. I saw pictures where the motor was in the lap of guys on the long dragsters. It must of been a great thing growing up in those days at the dragstrips.

Like most here, all my experience is racing on a 1/4 track. I have done 1/8 only a handful of times at the tracks discression (wet track, wind, etc). I really need to start getting experience in the 1/8 as thing happen a lot quicker. (Looking to do some $$$ racing down south next year and most southern tracks are 1/8). Benefits of the 1/8 are a quicker program and a lot less breakage. I did notice most oil down occur after the 1/8 mile marker.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to say that I'm an 1/8th miler, however, its what I learned. I've only ran 1/4 one weekend at O'Rielly Raceway Park in Indy. Didn't do well as I didn't have the car set up for the long journey.(Do NOW though). The closest 1/4 mile track is 2 hrs from me, so I'll just keep pounding the 1/8th. Not to mention it sounds better to say, I run 12.0's than to say I run 19.6's

In southern California there is a 1/8 mile track in Irwindale for all you California guys in case you have not heard about it. Do you guys have any times to post.
1/4 mile is the way to go. There is a whole lot more room for mistakes puts it more on the driver
Disagree. I think it take more driver skills to win at 1/8 mile than 1/4. 1/8 helps you tune in your launching skills and 60ft time which is where the race is won/lost. 1/4 mile actually helps a poor driver with a fast car such as me
