I went to the track yesterday to get some good times in before I put my GT40 intake on. It was fairly cool... I think around 45-50* and sunny... Got to run 4 times with one good run.
2nd run!- Best time YET! No wheel spin, it actually stuck so good that it bogged down my car a little. So I can still get a better time than this! But I'm still proud!
My previous best was a 15.6. It's all a matter of getting my tires to hook and not bog the motor down. But I was so happy to get under 15 seconds! Remember, this is on a basically stock engine with only exhaust, K&N, and rear seat removed.

How do I lower my 60' without changing anything?
I mean, no traction get's me nowhere...... slowly! LoL
Also, on all my runs, I would shift between 4500-5K RPM's but I would almost run out of 3rd gear. I'd be close to 5500 RPM's by the time I crossed the finish line. The 4th run (the 17 second pass) I actually shifted into 4th gear before the end.
I'm about 95% sure I have the stock gears, so that wouldn't be the problem. Would my wheel spin in 1st cause this or am I just shifting too early in 1st and 2nd???

What was different about your 2nd run then the others? You 60' quite a bit better. Did you change tire pressure, longer or shorter burnout, change something in the suspension?
I ask because you said basically that it pulled down the motor it hooked so hard. If it's nosing over then it needs more power out of the hole. However, you said you have a lot of wheel spin.
You didn't happen to get any video we could look at did you? I always find that very helpful when I'm trying to adjust something on my car.

When I ran the 14.8 (2nd run) I lowered my pressure from 44psi (full) to 35psi. My car is completely stock except for exhaust and K&N.
I also don't do much of a burnout because I am using my expensive daily tires so I don't want to burn the tread off. I do a burnout long enough to get the tires smoking then stop.
But it stuck good enough to make the engine kinda bog then picked right back up, so my 60' could have been even better on that run. I am playing with slipping the clutch and different RPMs on the launch. But on that one I actually kinda dumped the clutch, so I think if I eased into that one a little more it would have took right off.
I have video's but only of my last two runs. My wife couldn't figure the camera out on my 14.8!!! She taped my last two though.
I'll try to get the video's on here...

This was only my 3rd time at the track, and everytime I get a better ET! It's amazing how much of a difference experience makes by itself. So I'm still trying to find out where to line up in (in the groove, on the rubber, out of the rubber, etc.).
For right now I'm just using my everyday Firestone Wide Ovals (245/50-16) which are awesome when it's warm outside.
Once income taxes make their way here, I'll get a cheap set of drag wheels and put some M/T drag radials on there for strip only use!
What about me running out of 3rd gear? Does that sound right or what do yal think?

You're on the right track, and seat time is very important to lowering your et. Wait till you get those Mickeys on your car, you'll love them! I was able to drop 3 tenths off my 60 times the first day with DR's instead of street tires.
We'll see how long your car stays "basically stock", because I think you've been bitten by the racing bug and there is no cure.

If you're not having fun, then you're taking this stuff too seriously!
Tracks around me don't open until sometime in May, so it is going to be a long 3 months. Congrats on the new best. Yall are making me want to go hit the track. You said you were shifting between 4500 -5K, where to you hit max hp and tq?

Good time! Your 60 ft. was dramatically different on your 14 sec pass than the other ones. On my old LX i noticed that with the stock gears and non drag radial tires that I had my best times when I would bog it slightly off of the line. Until you get gears I'd say to jus let her rap out in 3rd like you've been doing. A shift into 4th gear would actually kill your time since you're already so close to the finish line. Keep doin your thing bro you're getting there
