Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and Shelby Automobiles announced the legendary duo has rejoined for a limited-edition GT500 conversion. The car will be a 800hp drag-race special bearing both Prudhomme's and Shelby's names. The Snake drove a top
fuel car for Carroll Shelby during the 1968 NHRA season.
Each year, the Automobile Club of Southern California holds a dinner to support the Wally Parks NHRA
Motorsports Museum on the first night of the Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the first race that Prudhomme drove for Carroll Shelby, the Shelby Autos team unveiled the new drag racing package that they developed together over the past year.
With a 5.4L supercharged V8 cranking out 800hp on
race gas or 750hp on standard 93 octane pump gas, the package will cost interested parties $100,000 on top of the purchase price of the car. Only 100 of the packages will be offered.
Though the
car is intended specifically for the drag strip, it's also road-legal and promises to deliver serious fun on the street and show circuit as well as at the track.
