Why do top fuel dragsters have 2 distributors ????

Dual Plug head = Dual Ignition to fire said huge fuel charge.

with that much nitromethane(burns very slow) it needs that much spark/energy to light it. and sometimes thats not even enough. i.e. cylinder going out/raw fuel coming out.

Top fuelers actually use a magneto instead of a distributor. They are a very basic, reliable concept. They are also used in many piston driven airplanes and small power equipment that doesn't require a battery (lawn mowers, chainsaws, etc). It is a self contained ignition system requiring no battery. It's basically a generator that does the job of the coil and the distributor.
