trust me i use to drive a first gen talon tsi awd. that had 260bhp and since it was all wheel drive i cranked mid-high nines in a quarter.

and for the tranny i never checked any others than the t56 i just saw that the cobras used them so i thought why not.

the t56 im looking at is 1300 dollars. whats the g-force?

Your ET / MPH computed from your vehicle weight of 2942 pounds and HP of 275 is 12.83 seconds and MPH of 104.39 MPH.

Ha ha, yeah...I agree about the conversation comment --- I dunno why that v6er felt the need to hijack my thread, but anyway back to business. You sound like you have a very solid strip car and I would be more than happy to share info with you about our setups. Currently I am running with no back seats so our weight should be similar although I am not sure how much those 85 GT's weigh. You're right about my cam as well...I don't have the exact specs with me, but I do know that the lifts are around mid .500's.

As far as suspension goes...

Since I got the car I haven't done anything to it. Stock upper and lower control arms, and after market struts and springs. The rear (according to the previous owner) has 31 spline axles and is supposed to be "beefed up and good for 700 HP", but who knows.

I hope you're right about my car's potential...personally when taking into consideration the set up I have I def. did not think I would run 13 flat ha ha but then again it was the first time ever down the 1/4 mile and my tire pressure was about 34 PSI and prob a decent amount more right after burning out before staging.

The builder didn't give me specifics but he's only a phone call away. From memory before he was done building the motor he said something about how much those heads were ported (too much for my current setup) as the reason why my top end would suffer. But don't quote me on that because I may be mistaken ha ha.

Thats another thing I will have to eventually get used to and that's when to shift, for right now I am going to play with 6000-6500 and see how that goes. Who knows, maybe I will end up shifting at 5500 like you.

For my intake I am using an edelbrock rpm air-gap. My tires are 255/60/15r's and they're the mt et street radials. I think the mt drag radials are the slicks.

As for the no air filter idea, I was thinking the same thing. Next weekend on my first pass I will run with my lower tire pressure (gonna start around 17 PSI and play with that might try 15) see what she does and then try it without the filter. I have never had a reputable answer as to whether or not that 9" will strangle my air flow (to a point where I will lose HP)...but I will find out next weekend!

Thanks for the encouragement though. I think you're 100% right about seat time. I will def. post next weekend when I get my results and I'll let you know what happens

does the car have subframe connectors ?????

as soon as possible upgrade the upper & lower control arms....

also invest in a set of strange 10way struts and shocks

also you are real close to needing a cage and that will make getting traction a lot easier...

not knowing your cam spec so to advice shifts will be difficult

but i'd try below 6K

Well, sticking to the original topic here...

I don't know how much experience you have at drag racing, but I've taken my '94GT out about 4 or 5 times. Every time I have gone out I have learned something new and have made some sort of improvement.
I've learned that experience is most of this game. So just keep going out and trying different things. Change the things that don't work and leave the things that are helping you!

Your 60's look like mine and I run mid to low 15's at 90ish MPH.

Hitting real high RPMs isn't always how you go fast. Engines will like to be shifted at certain RPMs. If you notice dyno numbers, HP and TQ fall off at a certain RPM, so after that point your waisting time. So that is another thing to kind of "test out".

I am by far no pro at this stuff, but this is just what I've gathered from my few trips to the track and from a lot of these guys here on the forum. So listen to these guys, they'll definitely help get you down the track quicker!

Thanks man. I hear ya about the dyno readings...once I have some extra funds I will be making a trip to get it dyno'd. Good luck with your stang.

I am hoping some people with track experience can give me a better idea of what my car is capable of. First time to the track today (was only able to run twice) and the best run I had was the following:

60' ... 2.551
330 ... 5.948
1/8 ... 8.655
MPH ... 90.97
1000 ... 10.998
1/4 ... 13.036
MPH ... 109.03

I was just pedal breaking it off the line and had horrible traction issues. Not realizing my tire pressure was WAY too high it was at 34 PSI on MT ET Streets (255's). I was told to bring that pressure down to like 15-17 PSI and it would run a hell of a lot better. Anyway, I was shifting at 5500 (I am switching out my 6k pill for a 7k and will be shifting at 6500 next time). Any ideas what my car will be able to run with traction and higher shifting?????? Thanks guys.

By any chance is your car a 5 speed or auto? Your biggest problem is getting it off the line obviously but this might be a case of more seat time after you adjust the tire pressure accordingly I've cut over half a second off of my times just from driving the car over and over again, so let us know how it goes the next time and good luck bro.

Now I get what he was saying over in the V6 section. I call BS on him too. 275rwhp is not going to net you 125mph. My son does that in his turbo V6 at 448rwhp......

I have 300rwhp /400rwtq in my '01 and its' best run was 12.94 at 104 with stock internals.......

rlg34750,

I'm sorry, I missed your post in with the others (all this 12 second 130 mph talk). I have stock upper and lower control arms, after market struts and springs. I do in fact have sub frame connectors.

you really need to invest in aftermarket upper & lower control arms

a set of strange 10 ways struts & shocks

and air bag then it will hook......

Just make sure you put the air bag on the passenger rear!
