Default 1998 Mustang GT 1/4 mile ets.

Guys and gals this is my first mustang, what can i expect? Car is all stock has an automatic trans, and the 4.6. After my all stock runs i am going to add the following. Upper and lower control arms, subframe connecters, exhaust, drag radials and may add a nitrous kit. How much of a diff. will this make in my ets.

Thanx for the reply. Was not sure what to expect, my last car was a small block powered nova running 10.20s with no power adders. Wanted to set this GT up for the son it only cost me $500 from a friend and only has 92000 miles on it.

With the auto, realistically, low 15's. Maybe high 14's if yours is a strong example.

My near stock (MAC catted h-pipe, K&N) '98 GT with a 5 speed ran consistent 14.5s at 96.xx. This was in good weather with low density altitude.

The auto should cost you 3-5 tenths, depending on the particular vehicle, track conditions, weather, etc.

Good luck!

with auto, i'm thinking high 14's, yeah, possible low 15's. I know they had a 10HP power bump in 98 but nothing special. Off the line with the auto, shouldn't have a problem hooking up, the suspension and DR's will help. Depends on how big of a shot you decide to go with. My 97 saleen, non SC 5 speed ran low to mid 14's on stock tires.

Dont want to be a pessimist but 92000 miles might be too much for nitrous. Boltons would be safer.

Thats what i thought on the 92000 miles. But for the price if i hurt it ill do something else..lol. I just would like to see the car run in the 13.5 range so any ideas on add ons would help. I just dont want to buy a load of stuff that is not going to make much of a difference. Need the best bang for my buck. Thanx again John

i disagree if the motor is tight & well maintained a small shot of n2o will be no different than any other performance mod

i know people that on the bottle with as much as 175k on the clock

but the most important when using "happy gas" is stay on top of you tune....

It depends on the shape of the motor. I never added nitrous on the '01 until 106k on the clock......
