I was bored today and decided to take the Shelby down the track a few times to see what she'd do! I mean how much trouble could I get in with my Shelby right??
Well I got tossed! They didn't toss me when I went 12.4 the first pass (remember it's a vert and 12.5 is the limit for a vert with out a roll cage) but when I went 11.515 they gave me the boot LOL
I didn't get any video since I went alone but here is the info from the slips!
Weighed the car after the pass 4,253lbs with driver!
I know that some people think the Shelby's aren't all that. Well this just proves a lightly modded Shelby is car enough to get you thrown of the track!
I'd say 11.5@120 MPH is more then enough for most people.

Yep my buddy Kyle got kicked out too. He has a Shelby vert also and he ran a 12.003 they booted him. Funny thing is his dad owns the track. He is a good kid, I think Dad was being over protective. Which is a good thing.

I took the grabber orange Shelby GT500 convertible down the track and went 11.515 at 120.83mph in the quarter mile.
Then just to show it's his daily driver, he did a victory lap around the track with the top down and Miss Congeniality sitting on the convertible boot waving to the crowd.

Nope, I'm really done modding the Shelby. If I do anything it might be minor tweaks that are more geared to street driving, much like what I did with the brakes.

Well I believe the rule is 12.5 and below and you have to have a cage in a vert. That's more NHRA rules then anything. Some tracks will let it slide a bit. however, our track is a NHRA sanction track so they are usually pretty tough on that stuff.
I figured they would have shut me down first pass. I guess since I'm there all the time and they know I can drive they gave me a little leeway.

The track here is also a NHRA sanctioned track , so that explains a lot. They are very strict.

there are worst thing that can happen other than getting asked to leave for going to fast......
BTW they gave you a lot of leeway.....
NHRA Rules states..... A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.49 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.49.
