I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the Drag Racing section, so feel free to move it if needed...
The first thing I did when I got home from work on Friday was to adjust my timing CORRECTLY. Last time I did the timing I left the spout connector in, and when I checked it with the timing light it would hit anywhere between 10* and 14*. Well, this time I did it the right way by disconnecting the spout. I set it at 14* and now I have to say "WOW" that REALLY woke my car up! I did get some pre-det so I put in some mid-grade (89 octane).
So then I met my car club at the local drag strip, so that I could race one of the supercharged Cobalt SS'. This turned out to be an excellent race! And I got a NEW fast time!
I actually crossed the finish line first but he was just a little bit faster than me.

Yeah, he was like right at my back bumper when we crossed the finish and I could hear his supercharger winding up.

Yup, see that's why it's MUCH better to race at the track! You have a definite starting line, a light to say who jumped the gun or who was sleepin', and a definite finish line (no ricer fly-by's!).
But, did you see my 60'? I can still get it a lot lower, but this one was definitely better than my others.
I lowered my tire pressure to 25 PSI, and it was actually a Pro-Street race night, so the track was prepped really well. If I knew I was going to get that much traction, I could have launched at a higher RPM. But I'm still definitely happy with the new time.

Nah, I'm not getting a big head Reggie... Just excited about a new time!
What's wierd is that when I ran that 14.8 my 60' was .02 faster than this one...
Oh well, I'll get them down as soon as I get some better tires and start upgrading the suspension!

Congrats on the W... was it a stock cobalt or was it modded?
It's a supercharged Cobalt SS with cold air intake and exhaust. It was fun racing him, because our cars were obviously real closely matched.
