Holy Snikey's Batman.......... Almost made it! I was too wondering about your r/t until you explained later in the post. Almost a need for the parachute!!
Like my avatars informed me. I'm gonna too add some stripes to my car and come looking for you!
Yeah, a lot of times I don't worry about cutting a light. If I'm racing someone and I know I have them covered by a 1/2 second or more I'll give them the move. In a case like that the most likely way to loose is to beat yourself, a redlight on a car that you have covered isn't good strategy! LOL
On test N tune night I'll try to cut a decent light if someone is in the lane next to me. It's always good to leave with the other guy when you don't know them or their car. If he's gonna get loose or make a bad call on the track I want to be far in front of him.
If it's a single pass, I just want to see what the car will do. I'm hunting an 8 foremost. I just take my time and leave when I'm ready. I don't even look at the light once it starts to drop. I watch the tac and the boost gauage. When the engine changes tone and I see 20lbs on the boost gauge I turn her loose!

Good analogies. There you go.... give the rookies (me) useful info. If it's not an important race, concentrate on the car.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it isn't important to practice on the light. Just saying that there are times you need to prioritize.

Gotcha! I'm suppose to be going this weekend but there is rain in the forecast all ready. I hope it doesn't.
Good deal! Hope the weather holds out for you.
Just remember you don't want to do what I did if someone is in the lane next to you. I knew I had nothing to worry about. The car had squeeled coming out of the burnout, which means I didn't get it in nuetral fast enough. I was taking my time and making sure the blower drive hadn't loosened up from the sudden drag.
You can do that when your running a single. I had the luxury of being able to take my time in that situation.

Let's put it in terms of those "launch roller coasters". I've ridden one that goes 0-80 mph in 1.8 seconds.... and I've ridden another one that goes 0-120 mph in 4 seconds. So what is the 0-x mph time for PLstang? I'm thinking it's probably about 0-60 mph in 2 seconds?

I think one of the guys calculated it once. We actually hit 60 mph in the first 60 foot. So that' something more along the lines of 60 mph in 1.3 to 1.4 seconds?
Heck, math was never my thing! LOL
All I know is that you have to make the power QUICKLY! If you don't get it moving out of the whole on the initial hit it takes twice as much power to gain speed on the big end.
