I have the following mods: underdrive pullies, Roush timing adjuster, low temp thermostat, BBK X pipe, Flowmaster catback, subframe connectors, Southside bars, 70 mm svo throttle body, 80 mm C&L in a BBK CAI, PI cams, and 245/50/16 bfg street tires. I know my 2.73's are hurting my times but I can not get below 9.50's in the 1/8. I run over 75 miles an hour so the power seem to be there, just cannot get the 330 foot times down. It is rather hot here though ( 95 on most days lately). On the street I am able to hold my own with cars that are much quicker on the track. What gives?
What RPM's are you launching at? I have a friend that runs 2.73's in his 89 5.0 (heavily modded) and he really has to walk a fine line between stalling and spinning too hard. Drag radials really helped. They would do wonders for you as well, big ol fat Nittos DR's would probably solve a lot of your problems (provided you are willing to spin that motor up on the line and really hammer the drive train). How are the SS bars controlling your spin/hop? Do you even have any spin problems? Good upper and lower control arms that change the suspension geometry always a good way to get a lot more aggressive bite on the road, albeit you will get your kidneys beaten out. As far as what gives, the only thing I can say for sure is get lower gears and better shoes, that is the most obvious things I can think to change your situation. Another avenue I guess would be to put your car on a diet, tubular K-member, A arm and coil over front end would help a lot, put the battery in the trunk, et al. Hope this helps a little...good luck.

With South side bars wheel hop is a thing of the past. I mean NO wheel hop. Tire spin is not much of a problem on the street. AS a matter of fact on the street I get better traction than at the strip. Not too bad a ride ( lowering springs did not help either). I have all of the stuff to install 4.10's , but the time. Even when I do get a 2.2 60 ft time my et's still do not drop accordingly, still 9.60 flat at 75 miles an hour. Maybe the hot weather is really killing me. On the street most of the time I pop the clutch a 2750 and spin the tire lightly for about 6 feet. At the strip my tires will not stop spinning. You are probably right that new shoes would help at the strip. Any more ideas are really welcome.
Are you going through the water box at the track? I have found that you can't completely get the water off of radial tires with the burnout after the water box. That could be hurting you. All you can do is practice, practice, practice. That is the best way of getting better short times. Oh, and take that lower temp thermostat out. All you are doing is making your car run rich.

Are you lowering your rear tire presure? Im runnig 275x40x17 Goodyear ZR'z and can drop them to 15Lbs without any wheel spin inside the tires. You have to be carefull here, mark your tire and wheel and bring the presure down a couple lbs at a time. I dont think I have to explain what would happen if you went to far $$$$ wheels, tires and maybe worse? Also Im running an automatic that doesnt put near the stain on a stick would.
