Are you shifting to the right gear? LOL... Sorry bout that! But seriously, if you let the rpm drop between gears, it will feel like it is bogging... keep practicing your powershift and keeping the rpms up between shifts... hint: dont completely let out of the throttle, and shift fast!!!!

Silver 05 GT Premium 5 spd, Red Shelby stripes
MMR CAI, Diablosport Predator, 4:10's.... for now
lost my time slip for when i ran 14s but the time i spun crazy it was 1.4 not sure if it was better or worst on 2nd pass just know it was alot less spinning
Congratulations, yea your first time you will be nervous. That is just normal. It will get easier. Your times will come down through trial and error. I see low 14`s in your future.

I'm guessing you weren't power shifting. You probably blew the tires off (spun bad) and shifted at red line but the shift itself was slow and allowed the tires to catch before the motor RPM got back up. the car hooked like you would want it to do on a short shift but it hooked at a much lower then optimum RPM and most likely deadhooked. You had limited forward momentum and when the car hooked the car found itself in 3rd gear but the speed of vehicle (it's momentum) and RPM was outside of the power band. Hence it bogged or felt like it did.
Does that kind of make sense?
When you blow the tires off you can shortshift the car (shift early) and the sudden drop in RPM will allow the car to hook in some cases. However, that shift has to be sharp and crisp.
No big deal! You had a good time and that's all that really counts in the end!! As Reggie said "Welcome to our world"!
Congrats on your first time out!

My first time i went to the drags, i was so nervous and my reaction time was .9 lol. By the end if the night i got it down to a .1 just keep at it and you'll do better everytime

not sure what power shifting is...sorry but ill explain it as best as possible...i didnt do a burn out cuz i was on street tires..when i launched the wheels was spinning but my rpms was like at 6gran so i shifted to 2nd it appeared to catch but the wheels spun again and rpms was around 6gran i guess from me still giving it gas. so i shift to 3rd and my wheels had traction but my rpms was around 3gran id say...but that could of also came from me missing a gear(had problems getting into 3rd so i thinks thats what u guys mean by missing a gear) but i still ran 14.8 so call me foolish but next friday im trying for 14.00 lol
Power shifting= shifting without taking your foot off the gas pedal. Carefull though cause this is really hard on your car (especially cars with no rev limiter). And missing third can easily be fixed by getting a short shifter. This sounds alot like my first time at the track haha. I have really really cheap tires on my car, i'm talking like $50 discount tire special lol. I could not get traction to save my life.
Good luck with your 14.00

Okay, very simply power shifting is shifting the car with the clutch as normal but not lifting your foot of the gas. If done quickly and properly it's very affective.
You just spun the tires and when the car finally hooked it dragged the motor like I had thought.
You just need some seat time!
Try leaving like your trying to get across a busy intersection and another car is coming. Then accelerate as the car and track will allow.
