Default Spec Clutch Advice

I am looking to put a Spec Clutch in my 65 K-code coupe. This vehicle is used primarily for drag racing but sees local car shows. Does anyone have any experience with these clutches and which stage should I go with? Any help is much appreciated.

I get conflicting advice on the Kevlar disc that it's not good for drag racing.

you could get away a spec 1

but since the you say the car is primarily a racer

I'd go with the spec 2

i personally have had every spec clutch with the exception of the spec 3+

have been very satisfied with all of them....

That's is way to much clutch for your application....

Spec 1
Torque Rating: 410 ft./lbs.

Spec 2
Torque Rating: 520 ft./lbs.

Spec 2+
Torque Rating: 620 ft./lbs.

Spec 3
Torque Rating: 680 ft./lbs.

Spec 3+
Torque Rating: 800 ft./lbs.

I am running a stage 2 clutch in exactly the same situation that You are talking about. A problem You WILL have is exactly what happened to Me on Sunday at the track. I am running 9in slick, with 4.56 rear gear, and on the 6th launch snapped the input shaft of the trans. This I found out is a very common problem. Upgrading to the l 3/8 input shaft will help, but expect the 1 1/8 shaft to fail.
