Went to Motor Mile Dragway in Radford VA for Friday night Test & Tune. A good looking 2009 Hemi Challenger was running the Mustang/Rear Wheel Drive class. Appeared totally stock. Was parked in the staging lane beside it and didn't realize how large the Challenger is. That's a big car even compared to the S197. He ran between 9.2 and 9.5 all night with most runs in the 9.3 range. I wanted to get a run with him but it wasn't meant to be. His best reaction time of the night was .9458 (I kept track of him) with most times at 1.000 or a bit more. I was between .5555 and .6459 and running similar ETs as his. I would have been close but on that night, at least, I think I could have taken him. I am running LCAs, no-tune AirRaid CAI, UDP, stock rubber and Auto w/TCS off/OD off.
ya they are a huge car.looks like a truck compared to the s197.they are very nice looking.dodge did a great job on looks and sound.but my 350hp mustang has beat three 425hp srt8 challengers.that is kinda sad.but for looks the challenger is one nice car and interior very nice. im a firm mustang but i would not mind crusing a challenger ever now and again.
I test drove one of the Challenger's when I was shopping for a "toy", drove really nice & smooth but not near as fun as the Mustang...........needless to say, I bought my Mustang instead!

It's getting a 426 Airrington built motor and a KB Mammoth. Car should make an easy 1000rwhp.

Very nice cars if cruising in a fast car is your bag. If racing is what you want to do, the 4000+lb. curb weight is hard to over come. Quickest stock one I've seen is 13.5, which is respectable but for forty grand? Sorry, I'll take a Shelby or a GT and the extra dough.

In the cards: intake, headers, exhaust, gears, spray and tune.
I ain't got a whole lot of room to talk about drag racing 4000lbs cars since mine goes 3850Lbs.

Too bad not on my other computer. I have a avatar saved on the Hemi commercials where the truck was lined up against a rail car. The rail does this huge smoke show and then the parachute pops out right at the start! "Should have bought a HEMI!"
I saw one at the track when I was there. This car was a total sleeper except for the sound of a big turbo and intercooler!
This guy could not hook up but when it does happen he will be very fast.

93' LX hatch, 460 with mods, TH400 trans, 9" w/ 3.89 spool. Best (so far!) of 10.18 @ 131 mph with 1.39 60'
We had a stock one here running 13.30's @ 105mph all night, I'm hoping to see a six speed version at the track sometime. For a big ass boat that's movin stock.
