Default Ran my "86 Notch at the Strip today for first time

...and it was fun! They are filming Pass Time today and tomorrow at Atlanta Dragway. I didn't make it onto the show with my beater but I ran a best of 15.89 (accidentally let off at first timing light rather than finish line) on my first run but couldn't get out of the 17's after that because I couldn't hook up or that's what it felt like. It took off as soon as I caught second. It's an all original T5 and rearend and I know the clutches in the rearend aren't what they were 23 years ago. The only new things are a Ram clutch - which served me well - and a set of Flowmasters. The motor, T5, and rearend all have 199,000 on them but that 5.0 was screaming!!! What a rush!

the first time is always the most nervous time, at least it was for me. my 99 mustang gt ran A 12.34 last friday night against a 1997 firebird which ran a 13.06. im looking to go back and maybe beat my time.

12.34 in a '99 GT? What are you running in your 'stang? That's a nice pass and even better since you put a Firebird on the trailer

You're right, Shinerstang, and I did have me some fun. Looking back on it, I should have just left the line at idle or 1000 rpm but I was having so much fun revving the motor waiting on the tree. Next time I'll try walking it off the line. I think I was the only 5 speed at the track. You have to DRIVE a T5; no paddle pushing or putting in in D and hitting the gas. Racing a 5 speed takes two hands and two feet. You have to work, brother.
