Looks like Santa is bringing us a early Christmas Present!!
Okay maybe not Santa.........but Charlie Harmon!
Looks like we're getting another shot at Urist! Richard already agreed to the race! Now all we have to do is get the old girl on the track. She's been down for a bit while we re-do the motor.
However, as of yesterday the new bullit is in and we're getting her plumbed!! We'll be testing soon and we'll be ready for November!!
NMRA Considering Texas Event in '09
Date: Friday, May 1
Ever since BOTB / FFW announced it was closing its doors the NMRA has been overwhelmed with phone calls and e-mails from racers, fans and sponsors eager for an all-Ford Texas event. The NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals is currently in discussions with Houston Raceway Park to host a post-season NMRA Lone Star Shootout event the weekend of Nov. 13-15, 2009.
While not an official "points" event, the Lone Star Shootout would bring the NMRA to the great state of Texas, one of the top Mustang and Ford markets in the U.S. The Shootout would feature 4-time Super Street Outlaw champ John Urist taking on local hometown hero Richard Lelsz, and former world champ and legendary Texas racer Mike Murillo taking on New Mexico’s Pro Outlaw 10.5 superstar Dwayne James. The event would also host a combined EFI/Hot Street heads-up class, several Open Comp and Index-style classes, True Street, Fords vs. The World Bracket Racing, and a special Lone Star Shootout True Street Quick 16 class on Sunday. Of course every NMRA event features a huge manufacturers' midway, swap meet and a giant all-Ford auto show and shine.
"The NMRA has always been interested in extending the reach of its brand into Texas, one of the hottest Mustang markets in the country," said Charlie Harmon, President of ProMedia LLC. "The opportunity to showcase the NMRA Ford Nationals and its excitement to thousands of fans and new racers is very important and we are working diligently with Houston Raceway Park to make this a reality. Stay tuned for more NMRA Texas event information over the next few weeks."

Well we ran the car in NMRA in 2008. We ended up placing 4th in points for the season.
However, when the new rules came out for 2009 we decided not to run NMRA. The rules are HEAVILY slanted against turbo cars. It was apparent that they call it the "Procharger Super Street Outlaw" class for a reason.
We tore up too much stuff trying to compete in 08 with a 92mm turbo. While Procharger cars could run the same thing the Pro Outlaw cars could, the only difference being the tire!
However, this ain't a points race........so it's run what you brung!! We plan to leave the baby turbo at the house!!

Sounds like a road trip coming up for me. I would love to be there. Dwayne James is a local here wow small world. You think I could race my car there ? I would love to be able to see what my car could do at a lower altitude.

Dwayne James is pretty cool. Funny story.
We were running at the Super Bowl. We had Dwayne James in the Second round. Our car was giving us fits that weekend. We had everything bu the pistons out of it at one time or another. Anyways the windage tray came apart and parts of it tore up the oil pump. Urist loaned us one since our spare wasn't going to be there till the next day. Turns out the one he loaned us was Dwayne's spare.
We're sitting in the stagging lanes and Dwayne looks over at me and Richard and says "hey, can I get my oil pump back now". Richard looks back at him and with dead pan look on his face says "nows not a good time for me"!
We then proceeded to put Dwayne on the trailer!
Yeah, you could run your car. You could put it in True Street or Ultra-stang.
Heck, if you bring it over we might have time to put it on the dyno and tune it a bit for you!

You need to come on over Reggie. We'll have plenty of beer! Should be a good time!
Maybe, we'll have another Crawfish boil like we did at FFW last year!!
Heck, we had a blast that year!!
If you guys want to come let me know in advance and we'll make sure to get you some good pit spots early!

Well Ol'blue might make a pass or two on Friday. Do a little test and tune. Other then that it just depends. The bad thing about running a PD blower is my classes are VERY limited. That's why a lot of guys run turbo or procharger when they start going into low 9's and 8's. A WHOLE lot more classes!
Besides when we get the beast out she requires all of us to keep her running top notch!

Last FFW we started with 10 cases. We went on a Beer run Saturday afternoon!
Hey this is Texas. (A side from the Driver) our motto when racing is "here hold my beer, we got to go make a hit"!

Oh man that is funny stuff for sure. Wow get my car on a dyno and have you tune it. That is a dream alone. When should I book a Hotel room?
