Will line locks help my ET`S ? Yea it would help my launch I am sure. Will it help performance by keeping wheels cooler.
A line lock will make doing your burnouts easier and save some wear on the rear brakes. Will it help your ET.... no. Can you use a linelock in place of a transbreak... no. Can you wire the lineline lock to the clutch pedel to keep the car from rolling on the line.. yes.

Refer to my orginal post have seen too many car get pushed pass the 60' with the front brakes locked....
When wired to the clutch pedel the line lock disengages as soon as the pedel comes up and does not releying on the driver letting go of the button. When I campained a stick shift car I never had a problem of the car rolling and never used the line lock on the starting line. I know of several others who had and issue of rolling and wired the linelock switch to the clutch pedel.

A line lock will help you get a more consistant burn out. It will also allow you to do as long or as short a burnout as you desire based upon track conditions. Having this ability will improve your ET's in regards to insuring the tires are where they need to be when you launch.
Like Reggie said, I have seen people forget to release them. That's why I don't like them on the steering wheel. Unless it's maybe a momentary switch. Richard has his on the Shifter, I have mine on a panel under the stereo. Mine is lit, a quick look down comeing out of the burnout confirms it's off.
However, since you're also interested about launching with your automatic. I would say the answer there is a higher stall T/C as apposed to line locks to hold her better at the line. I would also recommend swapping the front brake lines with braided lines and swapping to a better high temp brake fluid. That will allow you to bring the car up higher on the foot brake and still hold the car.

Thank you Eric. Which stall converter would be good for my car?

I believe this is where I have my problems using the line lock. I'm still trying to do a brake torque even when the lock is applied. I believe that I should be able to just stab the throttle and the wheels would spin. But then my first thought is that the car will push forward draging the tires. This is my cause of rolling into the throttle while doing burnouts cause me to actually not get a good burn out.
Am I on the right track for my problem?

IMO
Bkid, a converter will be your best bet. You don't need a linelock. Footbreak the car. If you going for your best time (not bracket racing and don't care about RT) try launching off idle and let the converter flash. Might be worth a run to try it out.
PLstang: excellent idea about using braided front brake lines for more holding power.
stang93mustang: 460, t-400, spool and no line lock???? You need a linelock to get a consistant burnout. In my firebird I set the linelock, spin thru all 3 gears, release the linelock switch, and spin up to the line.
