A V6 showdown tomorrow night at Beech Bend by the current #1 V6 Mustang in the Country. Matt's best is 9:76@138mph. He runs 30# of boost and I'm at 15.8. Gotta go to the shop and find the miss. We narrowed it down to #2, and have to check the valvetrain. It's a solid roller, and we have around 25+ dyno pulls on it plus my track runs, so the lash might be off.......
If there's money on it..........I'd be putting the Halfacre tune on it!

No money, just bragging rights between friends. He knows that I don't have the 2-step or MSD hooked up and that I'm at 15.8#. There will be more than one showdown between us because we live about 2 hours apart, but I think he wants to get the jump on me before the boost goes up and the electronics are in place. He won't have a chance after that.
He can pop out a good run at the beginning, but the car seems to lose its' consistency after that. Average for him? 10:00 would be a guess. He's at 30#, and really has nowhere to go from there with his current setup. They did a spread on him in MM&FF a couple years ago. I'm thinking it was August 2007......
Well, not really. We only lined up once, and I was experiencing a backfire through the muffler, and he forgot to turn on his water-ice intercooler. So we really couldn't count that. I brought my car around and checked everything and couldn't find my problem. I took it down a second time and got the same results. It stalled just before the ticket booth, and wouldn't start. We pushed it up on the trailer and called it a night. Come to find out, the new coilpack went to crap. I put the old one on tonight, and it fired right up.
Just one of the frustrations of racing......
His best time was only 10:04 @133. I got him covered next trip........
Oh man... sorry you had troubles! Next time you'll get him!
It both amazes me and scares me (a little) how close things have to be to perfect and how everything has to be just right to pull a great run! I have mad respect for you! I'm just a driveway mechanic, so I'm impressed with your skills.

Thanks. Building a V6 with this type of power needs to be perfect. I've had a couple problems with machine shops thinking this is just a V6 rebuild. My last shop, I had to go through and weigh/balance everything with him because what what I got back was not right. It took time, and I don't think he understood what our goal was eventhough I told him several times. I showed him the car on the way back from my dyno session, and started it up. He was very impressed with it and he now knows what my expectations are the next time this comes around. This car is not a grocery getter.
I can not wait to hear about the rematch. You have a great car and I am sure it was not easy to get where you are with it. Congratulations to you on building a great car.
