I'm taking my '90 Notch to the track tomorrow night for the first time, and was just trying to get some "starting points" to get a good launch.
First of all, I'll be running BFGoodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials, 255-16's. I have them at about 25psi now, whats a good spot for these? Also, how much of a burnout do these tires typically like? This will be from 9pm to 1am in Northeastern IA, around 55 degrees, so the track will definetly be cold, and most likely horribly prepped.
Also, whats a good RPM for me to launch at? It's a stock longblock 5.0, carbed, edelbrock intake, headers, fair weight redux, King Cobra clutch, World Class T5, 8.8 with 3.55's, etc.

i would start at 18-20 psi and adjust to the track......

there is no magic RPM it all has to do with what the track will hold....
i would say leave as you were leaving quickly from a traffic lite and tractor trailer just ran the red light.....
launching a car at the track is the polar opposite of a burnout on the street.....
Thanks!
Most importantly have fun and be safe.....
**** don't forget your helmet.....

I should have mentioned, this won't be my first time to a track, just the first time with this car, first time with a manual, and first time with drag radials. It'll be an interesting night to say the least
Thank you Reggie. This guy should have also mentioned to bring a trailer to tow the car home with......
I would start out at 16psi and work your way down from there. Launch at 3k and work your way up. It will take time to learn where your car likes to launch for best results.
There is no real magic number. There are too many factors involved......
Grabbed a 14.271 @ 95 mph, my second run. Only got 3 runs in tonight, and that was my best.
60ft was 2.039, so it has potential for high 13's IMO.
Not bad, need to work on getting those 60's lower. What tire pressure did you end up running with? Was it hooking or some tire spin? Are you getting in quick shifts?
