Default Will this affect 1/4 mile times??

If I change my old and maybe worn out valve springs do you think it would help my top end or drag times?

Does your engine have symptoms of defective/worn out valve springs? If so, then yes...it will inhibit your engine's full potential, BUT by how much? That depends on how "worn out" the springs are. I have never been in the position to see before and after results, but would be interested to see how much, if any, difference is made in your case. Keep us posted and good luck with her.

Hey Reggie; This is the first time, I've heard that question. What makes you think, that worn out valve springs are causing your E.T. problem, Mike. SCT Tuner.

but it is a good question....

you know if its making less power it will affect your times

on a side note it is refreshing compared to:

Do you think my car will beat my neighbor's cobalt ?????

You have seen this question before cause I posted it in 5.0 tech but couldn't get the responses I wanted or at least none from Reg.

Well that is not a whole lot of miles for your car. I saw one out at our track , it had 227,000 miles on it. You are going to get much better traction with the LCA`S and sub frame connectors. I would look into some cams, if I was you. Is this a DD?

No it is not a Daily Driven car, but I like to drive it every now and then. I am taking everyones advice on here to not change the cam til I upgrade heads and intake from stock. I got some 1.7 crane rocker arms i'm going to put on my stock heads. Thats the main reason i'm going to go ahead and change valve springs. Just figured they may be worn out by now. I thought maybe they might not have as much pressure cause they are old. Is that not how you get valve float or something like that.

I haven't been back to the track since I did the LCAs and subframes cause of the rain. I am hoping to get to go back this fri.

Sounds like you are on the right track. I wonder if the bottom end could handle all that new power. The LCA`S are going to make a noticeable difference.

well the guy I got the car from said the bottom end had been rebuilt. I don't know if their is any truth in that, but I don't know if it can handle that or not. I guess that would be another good question to ask the big guys on here when I get ready to do it.

looking at your e.t. vs. your m.p.h. they are fine...... for now! with upgrades, 1.7s or a cam swap it would be a good idea to get new springs. but as reggie said, very good question!

My 2 cents on valve float. The most common cause is also hydraulic lifters and low spring pressure. I suggest installing a complete kit that includes cam, lifters, springs, etc. with your 1.7's. Shud be good for .8 to 1 second gain if you can get the car to hook.
