Default Ran the 1/8 for the first time tonight.....

I ran the 1/8 mile track tonight for the first time in my life, and can't wait for some more! I have several questions and would like some advice. I made 5 passes and won 3/5, the first 3 was against my buddies Dodge 3500 Mega Cab (Cummins) with a Smarty, and exhaust, the first loss was against some kinda honda (I almost lost sight on him) and the last run was against a fast GTO with 6.0 and mods.

I wanted to get a base line before I install my 1.7 rr, Gt-40 intake and 70mm tb.

Will the above mods make much of a difference and if I would have went with 4.10's over the 3.73 would there been much differnce in my runs?

my best by 1/8 E/T was:

Reaction: + .2569
60' 2.2061
330' 6.3811
E/T @ 594' 9.1160
1/8 E/T 9.7281 @73.51mph

AOD transmission, 3.73 gears, underdrive pullies, electric fan, smog delete, CAI, 180 thermsat, timing advanced to 13 btc

Glad you had fun! There is room for improvement. My similarly equipped GT would regularly go 9 flat at 78-80 mph. Mine was a stick. The 4.10 gear would help on an AOD but I think your reaction time could be better for starters. Try leaving on the last yellow bulb. As soon as it lights, nail the gas. i guess with an AOD i would be power braked at 3k or so as well. Keep us posted as you make your mods.

to be perfectly honest those mods will not do a lot more for you

with regard to quicker et's most likely it will slow you down....

my suggestion would be uprgade your suspension & get better tires....

JMO you goal should be lowering your 60' time.....

It appears power is not your problem but traction is.....

A stall converter along with some drag radials would do wonders for your 60 ft. (and your overall time)

Reggie has said it all.

You need to work on getting out of the hole.

If the first 60' ain't good it ain't gonna get better at the big end!

Never seen a stock AOD car that didn't need a converter then you will really need the tires. this gets my vote..
