Money, gas, air pressure guage, note pad, helmet if you go 13.99 or faster, and a towing plan like AAA is a very good idea. There are many other things that are good to have, and depending on how fast the car is, there are safety requirements like rool bars/cage, driveshaft safety loop, etc., but the stuff I named is what I consider must haves to go to the track.

That hunk of junk? Yeah, well I've made a few special modifications to that yellow 99 Gt, it makes the Kessel run in 12 parsecs and eats turbo japs and poops chevy's
with mild mods and under 14 i would say a driveshaft loop and helmet. and a plan in case something breaks.

Next summer looking to go with:
Bilstien shocks + struts, Lowering springs (brand still TBD (any suggestions?)), MM CC plates, front + rear sway bars, subframes, and upper and lower control arms.
Time to make the pony ride some rails
It's a safety measure...it's basically a metal "loop" surrounding your drive shaft.
Since it's your first time to the track you might want to go on a test and tune night...sometimes (at least at my track) they offer time only runs while a competition event is going on...so it can become confusing as to when you should pull into your lane. I'd call up the track and find out a good date to go. But like most of what the guys mentioned esp. what Reggie linked to you should answer most of your questions.
All of the above. WATCH others for about 30 minutes, see how they do it. If you do not have drag radials go around the water. I know a guy who did not do that the first time , man that was embarrassing. Have fun. IF you feel the car is ever out of control or not safe , let off the gas. Live to race again.lol

There is really not much to it If your comfortable with your car just watch the guys ahead of you and try not to do anything stupid. Take solace in the fact that there are at least a couple other people there for the first time doing the same thing.
IF you feel the car is ever out of control or not safe , let off the gas. Live to race again.lol
Best advice in the thread. That and have fun.

+1 it's all about having a little fun! Just make sure you do it safely!
Watch for a little while to see what's going on, where the turn off for the track is, how long the shutdown is, how people stage, what kind of signals the track staff give people, etc.
It will make you a little more comfortable that first pass.
You don't want to rely on doing the same thing as the guy next to you or in front of you does. Remember it might be their first time also!
Oh, and as Bkid said. None of us are Billy Glidden so don't be afraid to lift off the gas if the car gets out of shape and don't be afraid to pull to the side if something breaks.
