Default Traction control on or off for drag racing?

Hi guys, been a while since I posted here. I know enough to turn it off when I do a burn out(that much is evident from my the parking lot of my high school during senior prom in '07), but when you launch. Do you leave the TCS off? Or turn it back on to keep the wheels from spinning off the start line?

Thanks guys.

Oops look like they moved it, the reason I asked this question is that I watched an older gent in a Mach 1 at the FFW event in Bristol, TN last summer try to do a burn out. He backed up into the box like 5 times before he gave up and just staged. I believe he ended up running a 15, I figured the TCS would limit times; thanks for the clarification. Don't mean to go off topic, but does anyone have any good launch advice with an auto trans and stock KDW tires?

According to my ZEX nitrous kit, TCS is a "fuel cut" (I understand that it applies the rear brakes as well). When the tires spin, it kills your fuel (with nitrous, that's *very* bad). The rev limiter is also a fuel cut but for the love of God, don't turn that off.

Every time the TCS kills fuel, you will feel the car hesitate. Every hesitation is another thing slowing you down. It's really incredible how much difference it makes.

Seems to me that if TCS also in addition to braking cuts the fuel that there is a risk of detonation in a situation such as a drag race where the engine is trying to rev with WOT. That is a scary thought to me. Keep it off.

It also pulls timing and affects other area's of the tune. You shouldn't suffer detonation but it will slow you down.

I guess what I viewed TCS as something that would be good to leave on in the rain, but I never drive my car in the rain so I guess it doesn't really matter. A salesman told me once I guess in 03 with a new Torch Red GT that it keeps you from spinning out. Which is bs since I have spun the tires with it on. I didnt really know what it did though so thanks again guys. I drove my car yesterday and forgot to turn the TCS off though. So used to driving with it on.
