Default 1968 Mustang Trunk Firewall

I'm going to install a trunk firewall on my 1968 mustang coupe, just wondering if i can rivet the wall in or do i have to weld it in? I looked it up in the nhra rule book on line but couldn't find information on the question. If riveted in i would use silocone to seal it good and also the package tray.

Default trunk firewall

It's mostly for future mods (nitrous) and more rigitity. I'll probably be putting the battery in the trunk next winter also.I've never gone racing at a track before, the closest one is 14 hour drive so i just hate to drive that far and find out that a little thing like that would spoil my trip.

based on the fact you want to add support

i would weld it and also use a sealant......

i have gone though the book i can't find any spec regarding the attachment of the bulkhead

All fuel tank filler necks located inside trunk must have filler neck vented to outside of body. Vented caps prohibited. All batteries, fuel lines, fuel pumps or filler necks located inside trunk require complete bulkhead of at least .024-inch (.6 mm) steel or .032 (.8 mm) aluminium to isolate driver compartment from trunk. Fuel lines must be located outside driver compartment. Fuel tanks must be within the confines of the body. See General Regulations 1.5.
