It only has 50k miles on it. I had only done two burnouts, ever, before that had happened. Is it possible for the right tire to lose traction that much to allow it to spin freely...or is there definitely something wrong with the T-Lok?
I was told to back up a little bit then proceed forward to help keep this from happening. And it seems to work. Or maybe because i trailer my car to the track they dont get as hot as if you drive it?
And Tom, Quick Time Pros are a great tire! I had a set of 28x11.50x15 on my '95 GT and they are great tires. I plan on running them on my '89 LX also. Hope they fit.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
I'm getting 4.10's installed on Thursday, so I'll have the mechanic inspect everything to be on the safe side.

Not bad, I need to go back and get some practice at the track. My first time at the track, I clocked in a night's best 14.5 @ 101mph with a horrible 60ft of 2.6 I was spinning the wheels way too much. My trap speed shows I should be in the 13's. I averaged over 100mph on all my runs which is a good sign

Yes, I was very happy with my results. I was asked by my neighbor and a few friends what I expected/wanted to run. I said I'm going to run low 14's, so I did.
Now, after all the mods I did in the past month, I can't wait to go again, but will more than likely wait till the fall when it's cooler and I have the money to buy drag radials and wider rear wheels.

Whatever you do, dont get nittos drag radials! They are worse than a regular street tire!

I disagree, Nittos arent bad at all. There bad if you want a 1.6 60 foot. My dad got a 1.9 on them on his 03 Mach with intake and exhaust, And Ive been told some people hit 1.8 60 foots with them. Plus you have a lot higher chance of snapping an axle with Mickey Thompsons. Id go with Nitto DRs

LOL, I've heard both ends of the story from several people. I definitely don't want to snap an axle and I want better E.T's than by street tires. I think that if I get the Nitto's my launch should improve without having to worry so much about breakage.

Ive gotten 1.9 60' with a Sumitomo street tire and a five speed! NITTOS SUCK! Get Mickey Thompsons! I hear they are a great tire!

And as far a breakage goes, I ran 26x10 slicks on my car for well over 50 passes and about 20 passes with 28x10 slicks on stock axles and differential with no problem. But you are drag racing, something is bound to break at one point or another.

Very true! I ran M/T drag radials last year with stock axles and differential, made 140 passes in the 1.7's short time range, no problems.
I didn't want to push my luck too far so I went with a spool and 33 spline axles this year as well as switched to M/T bias ply tires.
The only thing I haven't broken this year is the rear end. Both the motor and transmission have broken. Like the man says, if you're racing, you will at some point be breaking. Those are the cold hard facts.
You'll break whatever is the weak link in your drive train. Then when you rebuild that stronger, you will find the next weakest link. I don't know if it ever ends, because you always want to go faster.

If you're not having fun, then you're taking this stuff too seriously!
Nitto DRs are good if your trying to compete with the car in 100% street trim just with alittle stickier tires. I wouldnt run M.T's on a stock rearend. And Nittos really dont suck, maybe there not great but there great tires to grip with and drop ur 60 foots

Well whats the point of having to buy 2 sets of tires once you realize nittos suck and you want Mickey's? Its a waste of money. But thats just common sense talking

As far as the one wheel spinning- I wouldn't worry about it if it only happened once. It could have been a lot of things- one tire was wet, something with traction control system (if you have it), you could have been a little bit to one side of the track leaving one tire "out of the groove"... Even though it's a Traction-Lok, or "posi-rear", it's not a fully mechanically locked rear, so sometimes you will have slip like that. If it happens regularly then you should have it looked at.
I think the bigger problem is going to be that going to the track can be addicting. Now that you've tried it you're gonna be wanting to go all the time. And each time you're gonna want just a little better times. Then you'll need to modify just one more thing. Then lather, rinse, repeat.... and one day you realize you've spent thousands of dollars and what used to be your daily driver is now your race car and you're out buying a new car to drive to work in because you want to save the Mustang for the track....
And pretty much everyone reading this is by now saying to themselves, "yep, sounds like me!"
