I took my car to the dragstrip the other night for the first time since the three years I've had it. I came back with some pretty dissapointing times, It has an exhaust leak from where the h-pipe was cut out for the pypes x-pipe that I still have yet to fix.
I ran 3 runs the first one was a 15.2 @ 91.8mph(redlighted and sandbagged off the line), the second an third were two back to back 14.9 @ 92 mph. Someone broke on my third run so I ended up idling for 5 minutes at the tree so I believe I suffered heatsoak, or it would have been a better run. I had good launches on both of my last runs with almost a perfect R/T on my second run.
I still cant belive these times I came back with granted they were the first times I have ever been down the track but 15-14.9?'s I figured at least 13.9's with my bolt ons.
Sorry for going off on a tangent, but does anyone think I'm loosing power and getting crappy E.T's because of my exhaust leak?
I'm hoping its just me or the exhaust leak, I know the car is a lot stronger than that.
Thanks.

What were your 60fts? Was it your first time at the track? How were you launching the car?
I was launching the car at 2k with 17psi in the rear tires, I tried going to 3k but since it is an auto it was wanting to spin the tires while I was sitting at the line. It was my first time at the track.
60ft times
First run: 2.716
Second run: 2.512
Third run: 2.447

Well I called it sandbagging since I didnt floor it when I left the line... I just rolled into it pretty much I was nervous.

nervousness is a common occurrence on your first
sort of like many other thing in life......
redlight = premature acceleration.......
based on your 60' times that is the reason for the less than stellar et's.....
the only real cure is seat time......
you may want to consider better tires & suspension upgrades......

Don`t feel bad the heat right now is a killer. Don`t feel bad the other night I red lighted.I was dead tired and the guy at the lght was tricky. It is good sometimes to do this,it makes you more alert. My next run , I got a .001 reaction time.

17PSI is way to low for street tires, you only need to drop a few PSI at the most. Keeping them at the regular PSI would have helped you out more.
And yes those 60Ft times are really bad. That car has alot in her, drop those 60's and you r ET will be MUCH better. Good luck with her.

Premature acceleration. It was definitley premature, I think I left like on the second light or something. Had way too much adrenalin going. lol My track is holding another event in August so Hopefully I can get some more seat time in.

Yeah the heat wasnt so bad where I was at, biggest thing for me is all the humidty. And trying to keep the car cool as possible with all the people who were racing that night.

Ah ok I got you, I lowered it more on my last run and I noticed a slight drop in my trap speed, figured it added more tread to the ground but I guess thats only with racing tires. I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I've also been told leaving my overdrive on killed my times as well.
