Default hoosiers and tubes

I just got a set of 26x10-15's with one pass on them for $100. The guy says he ran them tubeless and had no problem. I have since read a couple articles on this and they both said that the contact patch will be better without tubes. They continued to say the tubes cause the slicks to wear out the center section faster and even compromise traction. I have to have them mounted and was considering trying them without tubes. Anyone try this or have an opinion? I am pulling the 155-80/15 radial T/A's off the front and switching to bias ply tires on my 4" centerlines. It seems like as much flex as you have in the sidewall of a slick that it would be closer to a radial but was advised against trying it.

I spoke with Hoosier when I purchased my 15x9.5 Quick time Pro's. They said it's your option weather to run tubes or not. Most people do not run tubes I was told.
I'm on my second set of tires and have run without tubes and no problems. I think I remember them saying not to go below 14psi. I run 16-17.I suggest giving Hoosier a call.
This is from Hoosier's site
6. Should I use "tubes" in slicks and DOT drag tires?
ANSWER: The decision to run tubes is ultimately up to the racer. Hoosier drag tires are capable of safely running without tubes at the race track. Race tires are inherently susceptible to air leakage due to being built of very light gauge material needed to perform in various racing applications. A decision to use a tube should be based on your application and needs. (Top)

No tubes. They will get a little squirley if you go 12lbs or below. I run mine about 15lbs depending on my RT. I do use rim screws. Some of the 'vette guys posted issues with mixing QTP's and front radials. I have been running radials on the front without any issues. I was running Moroso skinny bias on the front but needed a DOT tire for the "Street" class. QTP's are a great tire and meet the DOT class requirements.

the use of tubes is a matter of personal preference.....

i have aways gone tubeless in my tires.....

But due to the big end twitch i have considered installing tubes

Based on a recommendation from a respected fellow racer to aid in top stability......

Thanks,
I am going with tubes after closer inspection of the tires and seeing that they had been screwed to the wheel previously. I don't want to deal with the constant air loss. I found a set of fronts, dirt cheep and am going to get them. The short wheel base makes it wild enough to drive as is. I hope the new slicks are enough to get it to launch.
Thanks

If they have been screwed then going with tubes is a smart move.

I am going to have to start running tubes in my tires. I have started loosing air pressure to quickly as I have had to change tires quite often on the car.

Tubes will definetly help with the "Big end twitch" as Reggie said!
