Default 2007 Mustang GT. How are these track times?

Went out to local track in Sealy, Texas. Ran 14.12 with a 2.311 60ft, 14.06 with a 2.29 60 and a 14.11 with a 2.182 60. Trap was 99.8 to 100 even. Are these times on par with my mods listed. I was looking for mid 13s. Temp was about 85.

I think with a set of stickier tires and some more practice you can get there. Focus on those 60' times. Get them under 2 and you're there.

I would have thought you would have been a little faster. I have an 07 Mustang GT and the only mods I have made are an K&N airfilter and a Shelby short shifter (stock 17 inch wheels...). My quarter mile times are generally in the 13's and 14's with a best top speed of 104.6 MPH but generally 102 to 103 MPH. This is at New England Dragway which is near sea level temp in the 70's.

I am surprised at your times then. My mechanic has told me that if I really want to go faster the 4.10 gears would help but that I should get a automatic. Then the DOT drag radial tires. (My mechanic is an ex drag racer)

1st thing you went to Sealy...the track is crap and usually the line is poorly prepped. I won't even run that track.

2nd..yeah it was 85...but humidity was through the roof if I remember correctly. It was pouring rain all over Houston Friday and part of Saturday.

3rd you went to Sealy (wait I already said that).

So considering the track and the conditions the times are OK. Better tires would help. However, you could probably do better just running the car at HRP or HMP. It also wouldn't hurt for a little bit better DA.

Anyways, glad to see you at least got it out to a track!

Yeah, well keep in mind their is a reason why most of the magazines do their challenges and shoot out's in your area. You guys got "magic air". LOL I've been told all I needed to do to run an 8 with my car was to haul it up to that neck of the woods.

I would have expected better then that, with the gears you should be running in the 13s regardless of conditions. Did you turn off TCS and did you spin much? Regardless, I hope you had fun, it gets addicting.

I did have TCS off but I spun a lot. Getting stickier tires is my next mod.

PL, I have run at HRP and like it a lot better. Sealy is not the ideal track for traction but I had to try it out.

Gears can hurt you if the car can't hook up. On a poor track they are detrimental if you don't have the skill to make them work and adjust your launch accordingly. Car will just come out to violent and unload the tires.

And DA will greatly affect a cars performance. Ask Bkid, he knows first hand.

Well Sealy isn't just "not ideal", it's a bad track. There's a reason they do the 40 to 120 roll racing there. The line STINKS! I'm sure you spun a lot worse then you really know off that line.

I won't take my car down that track...heck I doubt it could hold the Shelby with me banging the gears on it. The GT would just end up in the wall...that or just light the tires up on the launch and sit there.

Make some passes at HRP and post up in the Drag Racing Section. Sure you'll find some help there to improve those 60' times and your overall ET.

Just don't get too discouraged by your times at Sealy. That's not a true measure of the car or your own ability.

I can't......

This is a family sight!

But to summarize. I take my car down HMP (1/8th mile track) regularly and that track has a reputation for eating race cars. Given this fact and the fact that some people have called me a little crazy. Well that should give you some idea what it means if I won't make a pass on a track!
