Give me your opinions, as I'm just trying to put a little fun into a not so funny situation.
Since I blew up my good motor I bought a 351 out of a '94 F150 to finish the season with. I hope to have it up and running this weekend and return to the track next Friday (the 14th). I'm kind of wondering just how slow it will be.
Here are the facts:
The motor was rated @ 210 hp from the factory, but I think they use flywheel hp so I'm guessing it's more like 175 or so to the wheels. I was hoping to use my heads and cam with it, but the dowel is sheared in the cam and I can't get it out, and the heads have bent valves so I will be running the stock heads and cam.
I will be using my vic jr intake and 750 dp carb, along with LT headers, but it still 'aint gonna be able to breathe with those heads and cam. The carb will be way too much, so I'm thinking of disconnecting the secondary linkage and running it as a two barrel.
Traction won't be a problem, that's for sure. I was hooking pretty good with the stroker motor so I'll probably have a hard time launching high enough to keep this one from bogging.
Oh, and the car weighs 3100 with me in it. Well it's probably 50 lbs more now with the iron heads.
So let's see who can guess closest to the number it will run. Don't worry about hurting my feelings, as I already know it will be very slow.

We're not the fastest car at the track but we might be having the most fun.
If you're not having fun, then you're taking this stuff too seriously!
I love the way you are taking this in stride......
Well I have been around the block a few times and one thing I've learned is what's done is done, you just have to move forward. There are a lot of worse things in life than a blown up motor.

2008 Grabber Orange GT premium, 5 speed manual, 3.31s
Diablosport Predator Tuner and Bamachips tunes (93 Race, Torque, and Preformance), Boom Tubes
Kooks LT headers and catted H pipe, Steeda UDPs, delete plates, UCAs, LCAs, and Panhard brace, all waiting on time to install them
I knew it wouldn't be long until you get something running to finish the season.
You are officially a DRAA member......
I'm thinking you are in the 14.5+ range for the simple fact you are much lighter than the 05+ Mustang, and you have traction. you can always add more air in your slicks to compensate for the lower hp. It will help if you try at 20psi and go from there to find the sweet spot. We have done it, and it works. At least you won't have to rev and drop at 6k just to make it get out of its' own way......
My guess is mid 15's. ET is no big deal just dial. The other issue is on how you hit the tree with the "new" motor. I would recomend that you do a test and tune on a pro.500 to see where your at RT wise. Be happy that your still racing your car. I had to finish a season in a borrowed car which wasn't setup for me. Another year in my DD a '02 Trailblazer.
