How far ahead one second is depends on how fast the car is going at the stripe. If we assume a 100 mph trap speed then one second is about 147 ft!

My car is only around 16 ft long so that would be over 9 car lengths. A large MOV in anybody's book.

It depends on the speed and length of the car's (you and your opponents). Ballpark a second is about 10 car lengths. That means .10 is one car length. When I bracket race I'm trying to get a MOV of .010 to .019. That's a ballpark of a 3' or less mov.
