Default More nitrous questions

I know Reggie has given me the 101 on nitrous however I have some questions that it did not cover.

I know that nitrous requires additional fuel and my question would be where will the fuel solenoid get its supply from if I don't want to run two fuel pumps?

I have a 4 port regular adjusted for carb applications. Does it matter how much psi is going to the solenoid?

This is the system I'm thinking about if I do this:
Comp Cams 82048

What do you think? I found cheaper than jegs, just the first link I found right away with pictures.

Also, I was not aware that you had to purchase a purge system seperate. What's with that? If you don't get the purge system how are you suppose to run the car then with just the initial kit!

ok the Zex is a good entry level & it will hit.....
I was going to recommend that before i opened the link....

since i know what you have for a fuel system it is enough to supply that kit.....

i highly recommend a purge.....

what it does is get rid of any moisture or trash in the line...

so you will have pure n2o going to the motor.....

The is another school of thinking to purging in the motor.....

BTW i'm still trying to figure out

when Eric(PLStang) see this i'm sure he have more to add.....

Ahh, Nitrous 201 for the advanced student.

Purging into the motor does the same thing as purging to the atmosphere for the most part.

However, it has an advantage. If you run a colder plug for the nitrous you tend to foul it idling around. Hence when you launch it takes a little while for the plugs to clean up and operate at 100%. When you purge into the motor you accomplish what Reggie said while also cleaning the plugs!

I'm purging into the motor on this pass, it's not a large shot so no big show..but it accomplishes what needs to be done.

Love those launches.. Could you hear the purge through the exaust? Purge, start revving and you'll notice a difference in the way it revs?

Would the fuel solenoid connect into the 4 port at about 6.5 psi? Using the BG440 system the pump should be able to handle it?

My car is a candidate for fouling plugs because of idle.

There's a tactic to NOT purging the system. If you don't purge, then the moisture will flow to the engine. It won't hurt the engine but it does cause a softer engagement of the nitrous. By the time the clean nitrous hits you're already in motion and thereby not blowing off the tires.

Hope that doesn't add to the confusion.

Honestly on cars like yours I like a separate system. small cell, holley blue and regulator with a return line of the regulator to the cell with a nitrous pill in the line to control and level pressure.

However, it'll work with what you have.

Yes it did thank you. So now we are adding that there are different techniques to this along with why it is safe to use.
