Default Raced at track for very first time....

Hi guys, well yesterday was my first time at the track down here in Miami, i beat an 82 Camaro! but was very disappointing the rest of the time. I think I am doing something wrong. When I launch the Mustang, takeoffs are real bad (lack of experience lol). Whats the best way to jump off the line if I rev it around 2700 & 3000rpm and then completely take my foot off the clutch pedal, or remove it slow or half way then completely off. Most of my launches i stayed burning tires...! I am being robbed of my favorite part of driving.....quick takeoffs. Someone please help?!

1500 rpm takeoffs with street tires. Just like you do on the street. Once you get a chirp, chirp, put it to the floor and go. Spinning wastes a lot of time on the track, I'd rather come out a little slower, and you'll end up being faster. (If that makes sense)

i dont exactly "launch" my car on street tires. i found over plenty trial and error of everyway possibly to get out of the whole on street tires, DO NOT dump the clutch at any rpm, i rev somewhere 3g or lil over and just work my foot slowly off clutch till im full throttle, if u get what im sayin you'l do good after you get used to it.

LMAO dam i must be doing something wrong with street tires stock T45 and 3.73s hahaha cuz what i do is:

rev her right up to about 4500-5000 bounce her off of 5000 and side step the clutch and let it spring up for all its worth (that tenth of a second matters to some ppl) then when the tires are lighting up all over the pavement i listen for the perfect shift point, which is VERY shortly after and i yank the shifter into 2nd and rely on that to slow the tire hammering on the pavement, she hooks just a LITTLE bit to the side in 2nd then WOW does she fly... mainly being in powerband the whole time since the beginning of the launch... not very healthy for the CAR but def. works for a good time (its how my dad taught me to do it the old school ways of an old 71 Torino with like 800hp at the crank)

works GREAT just in my own opinion, but boy does it hurt the tranny if i dont catch 2nd just perfectly hahahahhahahaha

That method also translates to very slow 1/4 mile times. Any tire spin on the track slows you down a lot. Why else would we spend a lot of money on Drag Radials and slicks, and adjustable lower control arms?

so that when u use that method with radials and slicks and adjustable lower control arms ur in ur power band AND your grabbing the pavement?? would be my best guess... however im no drag racing guru either... just sharing the word of a guy who has been there, done that and does a dam good job of it.......

If I tried to use the sidestep at 5k method on slicks, with traction, I'd probably end up with a bunch of broken parts strung across the track.......

lol i wouldnt know, i havent tried it....YET lol im not that rich yet, however, i have a HUGE amount of faith in a ford, i have even more faith in a ford built up by me and my dad and i would like to think that it SHOULD be possible providing that all parts and accessories were installed properly otherwise how could we have that demotivational torque poster that the OP has for his avatar XD my dad has built some serious stuff and i have done my fair share of competing with STOCK equipment tweaked to perfection

but u bet when i have 315/35/17 drag radials and maybe an adjustable lower control arm that im DEF. gonna try the way i learned to launch a car

I haven't got enough faith in Ford's 28 spline axles, or the 10 spline input shaft for the transmission to try that yet. Maybe once those are replaced and beefed up, I would try it.

lol i go out and beat on my car EXPECTING it to break... if it dont, i havent beaten it hard enough AND if i DO break somethin, clearly it was the weak link, now its a perfect excuse to upgrade that to a better part
