Went to Cecil County Raceway Wednesday night and ran 11.96, 11.92, and 11.90 - all at about 115mph with 60ft in the 1.7's -
This is in a stock bottom-end '06 GT Coupe with an automatic. Mods are: 2500 stall converter, intercooled Whipple kit, exhaust, and 3.73's. I am running with stock suspension, full leather interior and a big 13.5" sub with 2 amps in the trunk...
Before you rain on my parade, keep in mind I know there's a lot of MUCH faster cars out here; I am mostly curious to see how it's running compared to similar set-ups, so if you have something similar, let me know.
Thanks- made 462hp / 442tq on a Mustang Dyno. I am pretty close to see level, which helps - but it was dyno'd in the summer, pretty hot & humid, which doesn't... but either way, I think it runs pretty well
A mustang dyno 'historically' produces numbers lower than a dyno jet (or so they say).
My 65 mustang putting out n/a 370 RWHP on a dyno jet runs the quarter mile in 11.45 at 118.8 at the same track, in 80 degree heat, starting at idle (no high RPM launches) with a road course suspension, AOD with a 3500 stall, 4.11 9 inch, 245 tires on the front and 275 drag radials on the back (street trim except for the rear tires meaning all sway bars still in place and such). With me in it, it is between 3200-3300 lbs.
I figure I am on the track at about 3700 lbs. I know I can lighten up at the track for better times (take out subwoofer box, amps, tools, etc..), and maybe I will try that at some point, but first I wanted to see if I could hit 11's in full as-I-drive-it-on-a-daily-basis and on pump gas trim.
I leave at about 2200-2500 rpm, but I drive out, I don't floor it. If I mash it, it spins. Plus there seems to be a little belt slip at the top end with the 6 rib belt. Problem is, to solve those two probs (suspension & belt/pulleys) is very expensive, and I just can't afford it right now.
I figure with better weather I might have a couple more tenths in there, but I am happy right now just to be saying "11" instead of "12"...
By the way - when you going again? I will look for your car next time I'm there.
I understand your want to see how fast you go in the "as-you-drive-it-on-a-daily-basis" But now that you are able to say your in the 11's, I don't see any reason why you cant at least take out the amps and sub to see how much faster you run. Heck, you might find out that you don't want them in the car anymore if you can manage to pull out an 11.5-11.7, I mean why do you need a radio (and all the audio goodies) when you have the best sound coming from your tailpipes?

Those are some solid numbers on a mustang dyno Your car sounds like it has more in it. Mid 11's should be where your car's at. A car diet would certainly get you there much easier. Good luck on whatever you do

I am there very infrequently. I usually go on the SSOTN track rental days....so I won't have the 65 out there again till November; when it is nice and cold and they will ask me to add a 6 point bar this time if I best the 11.45 it ran in the heat.
Thanks for the advice- I will take you up on it and do a little dieting. I am in on a track day rental Sept 18. Seems like the right day unload everything extra I'm driving around with. And maybe even take off the big chrome front wheels too. I've thought about it before but I always seem to go last minute, but that day is preplanned, so I don't really have an excuse...
Hopefully I have something worth reporting by Sept 19.......
welcome to the 11s!!! def more ET there IMHO, I'm surprised your trap is 115 seems a bit low with 460+whp, what's the best mph the car has trapped?
what gear and tire are you running?
oh and definitely take the stuff out of the trunk!
115-116... I am using 3.73 gears where most of the automatic guys like 4.10.. but also, I did mention somewhere earlier, I feel something slipping at the top end- I'm thinking the belt. Another thing is that it was dyno'd with the factory tranny & converter. I put in a Level 10 tranny & converter that was built for a similar car but not my car - I was supposed to bring it up to them so they could tune it but haven't gotten up there yet, so if the "slip" is in there it will eventually be taken of.
So there's definately a little more there, it's just a matter of finding the time to work out the kinks.
