Default question about drag radials

i know this has probably been asked before but here we go.

my buddy is buying a set of M/Tdrag radials tomorrow for the test and tune next week at shannonville speedway, he would like to know what psi he should run in them, short med or long burnout and also if he needs to go it to the water trap as he always ran street tire and has never gone in the trap.

any help would be great.

DR's like to be smoked pretty good. miss the water box with the fronts tires, then back up into the water box. i usually burn my DR's for about 5 or more seconds. I would start at around 18psi and maybe go down to 16psi. If they are on some old rims, i like to put a mark on the lip of the rim and tire with a shot of spray paint. That way i can see if the rim is spinning in side the tire.
MT's will hook really good.

I have to agree with 2oo5GT. When I was running DR's I played with the pressure and around 18 psi worked best for me. I also smoked them pretty good and they still lasted for 150 passes.

Crap..... 18psi? I run 10 in the '02.......

It really depends on your hp and launch techniques. 18 is a good place to start to find where the sweet spot is. You should be getting maximum launch without excessive spinning or dead hooking.

10 psi? must be tubed - and prob screwed, too, and if not you probably should be cause I'm thinking your tire is probably walking along the rim .... I think the MT website says their drag radials are not meant to be used below 11psi; 12-20 is the recommended range - and you've already heard guys chiming in that they are in that range- I have been doing about 16-17 with pretty good results.

They have been screwed too. Anything over 12psi makes me spin when launching off the brake......

we are running 18 psi.I just get them smoking then roll on up. LOL but we dont have any 60ft at all the best has only been 1.70 with the turbo set up.

If you go to the M/T website,you can get the recomended tire pressures for your weight car.
