Default new to this area

my name is rick

I will be running a 87 LX hatch back, out of dallas oregon next year, and we will be racing at Woodburn drag strip.

Guess that starts it off car at this time will be run with my 2.3 out of my sand drag macine, but it will be a big differance from 100 yds to 1320 feet.

motor should be a easy drop in as it only has about 4 wires to hook up the rest of the car will be gone

plans are a 10 point cage tie fron to rear with 1x2x.120 thick tubing
not sure about traction control other then the kits already on order to change the upper and lower arms outnot usre what spring rate to run or if i leave the stock ones in for now the car had the 2.3 in it

got a 5 speed out of a different car will be changing over to an 8.8 out of a 1988 turbo coupe with the disk breaks.

not sure what rear coils to run for drag strip so i am looking for ideas there

will be running a fuel cell 5 gals with relocated battery as this is not street car

as for tires the shop i have always been doing busness with, is saying the toyo drag slick is a good tire but i know little about them except what i have read on the internet

it will be on a 10 inch wide 15 inch rim cover all size is 28.4 tall and 11.4 wide i think they said

open to idea on the build and i will set up a web site after i start work on the project

long term goals are a built 460 with 2 speed auto with a ford cut down 9 inch and 4 link

Why not start there right off the bat? Same money. Your gonna have to change your K member from 2.3 to 5.0 might as well put the 460 in there. Oh...... I support BB by the way!

93' LX hatch, 460 with mods, TH400 trans, 9" w/ 3.89 spool. Best (so far!) of 10.18 @ 131 mph with 1.39 60'

guess the same as others the cost outlay to build the 460 and a matching power guilde transmission i am guessing will be arounts 12,000.00

thin it will also need a cut down 9 inch ford rear end setup with gears that is about another 1000.00 to 1500.00 i bet

i did get a new front K member and all the stuff to go with it yesterday from a person that was going to build a mustang then chandes his mind

i do have a lead on a 66 rare 427 full build that used to belong to a person here that was in too drag racing and had the motor rebuild a few years ago but the motor was never installed for some reason so i am trying to chase that lead down

i know my 2.3 last time on a chassie duno was over 350 hp
but that was with a build close ration 4 speed and 4:11 r/p and a super diff

really not even sure if my motor is legal in any class we build them different for sand drags then guys on the street do

not sure is i can use chev V6 pistons in a ford for NHRA and the same for the 5.7 H beam rods from a chev, face it the piston ring help hold the wrist pins in the pistons on my motor my head was built by a shop just outside Pismo beach that did the port and polish then they ran stuff the direction of flow to help smooth all the surfaces in the and match the air flow of all runner to with in a very small percent same with the combusion chambers.

i know years ago you could get DQ just for turning pistons around and running them back wards to increase stroke in the old days

i have a medical foster home and we sort of got in to this as a place to go on weekends and have fun then we moved in to thr driving areas the same is true with extreme trails,my kids are basic the only ones at there levle to go to some of these events and the only ones to ride on some of the trails we have done over the last few years
