Hoosier Drag Front Tires - JEGS

Not sure if you want matching rears or what, but hopefully this helps.

My rears are 255/60/15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets. I wanna put a regular tire on the 15x4s. I Just need the Metric measuremant of them. (For example, 175/70/15.) I need that kind of measurement.

165/80/15 or a 195/60/15

Edit: Just noticed, didn't they address this in your other thread though?

Yes they did, But i called JEGS today and he told me that a 195/60/15 would not fit a 15x4 Wheel. I was going to go purchase a 195/60 until i called JEGS and one of their costomer service Reps said that a 195/60 would not fit the 15x4 wheel.

Is this true?

i have 15x3.5 draglites on the front of my car..i cant remember the middle #,but i know the first # is 185(cheapo used street tires that came with the wheels)..they are a tad too wide for the 3.5" rim and kind bubble out a little bit..
not sure how they'd be on a 15x4,but hope that helps you in some kinda way lol

heres the best pic i could find, you can kinda see how they "bubble" out from the wheel

I guess it might bow out a bit but I don't see why it wouldn't fit altogether. A 165/80 would fit great on that rim. That's what I have anyways.

They can get them, original size tire for a '70 VW beetle. I have the same tires on my firebird. Got them from Pepboys.

That is some of the worst advice i've heard in a long while......

Why anyone put a junk pepboys tire on a "race car/high performance car"

I will 99% guarantee the perfomance rating will be sub par to the application.....

One of the quickest ways i know to get close & personal with Mr. Wall

I guess you think #17026 2ply Moroso's would be better? I did a lot of research and spoke to my racing tire distributor before I mounted a street tires on my car. Pep boys specials have outlasted and outperformed the name brands. Note that I don't trap more that 120mph.

The issue I had was the weight of the car with the "VW" tires. There are a lot of cars using these and I have never seen or heard of an failure issue. I did have a failure with the Moroso front tires. The Moroso's side wall broke and created a nice side wall bubble from the front end comming down on launch. I have over 800 runs on the pep boy tires.

The other issue is running front radials with a bias ply rear tire. Lots of pros and cons on this. I have found that with mixed tires if I run less that 12lbs in the bias ply rear tires, the car gets squirley on the top end. I normally run no lower than 15lbs in the back.

The Moroso tires are not DOT approved which makes them illegal to use on the street and illegal for some bracket classes.

Yes I do......

It is a nhra aproved tire.......

The op i am asumming the tire will be used for both street & strip....

I would not recommend using the moroso tire for him either......

I guess you are just lucky......

I have seen junk tire fail on numerous occasions.....

I thought we were talking about front tires

The above is very true......

But the moroso tires are not the topic of the conversation.......

So i repeat there is no reason to run a junk tire especially when the major high performance companies such as Mickey Thompson,BFG or Goodyear makes a tire that will meet class requirements......

In closing if you are happy and secure in the saftey level of using a junk tire

By all means do it.......

BTW when you meet MR. Wall tell him i said hello......

Thanks for the advice. Per info in this thread samotrx7 and need4spd90 are running junk small tires too. Thanks for saving all of us from MR. Wall.

FYI There was a major failure issue with MT ET Street Radials this year. I guess they are just another junk tire. Never mind the thread is about front tires.
