I went to the track for the first time.
In the 1/8 mile my best time was 10.2919 @ 73.48mph with a 2.4 60'.
The car I was racing was a 94 gt auto vert with 4:10's,magnaflow exhaust,x pipe, pulleys,CAI,octane booster and no tire and jack. That night I was having problems with my transmission.
The car went to 5000 rpm's and it stayed there and wouldn't shift for about 2-3 seconds then it finally shifted and with the o/d off the car hit 5000 rpm's and stayed at 5000 rpm's and wouldn't shift at all it just revved. When I took my foot of the gas pedal and then stomped it again then the car would shift.
I took it to my performance mechanic and he checked it out.He told me I need a transmission rebuild.
My bands are burnt up and I have a bad pressure pump too.I never knew there was something wrong with the
tranny until I took it to the track. It drove and shifted fine on regular driving and accleration.
My question is what do you think I will be running in the 1/8 after my
tranny rebuild.High 9's? Mid 9's? low 9's?
Also since I had trouble with traction should I take pressure out of the back tires and inflate the front tires
next time?
As far as launching my auto should I brake stand and hold the rpm's at around 1200-1500 then release the brake and gradually push down on the gas pedal.Or is it better to stomp on the gas pedal after you release the brake?
your help is appreciated.
