yeah man i'd go with a new edge mustang 99-04 body they push decent power and they run 14.0 flat so not bad. the 5.0 are nice but stock on stock the new edge 4.6 are faster, the 5.0s are 15 second cars stock unless you have a lx they slip into 14s it all depends what you want .i'd personally get a 99 and up 4.6 but the fox body 5.0s are just to good looking and you can do mad stuff to them.

yeah i agree with the dohc in 96 cobra is nice 305 hp stock thats one of the best motors for a mustang. The new edge cobras have 320hp the 99-01, and of you want it all 03-04 cobras 390 hp nice. the gt is a good car also easy to fix sounds nice looks good and quick as hell.

thought i forgot about you guys? thanks for the input. got really really sick, and was in the hospital ofr a LONG time. anyways, thanks again for your input. i probably woun't be getting a Stang until next spring, i have no garrage, and i am not going to work on a car when its 40 below zero.
i do have another question though. are mustangs a good car to learn on? i know a bit about cars, how the engine works, transmission, forced induction, stuff like that, but i never actually done any real mods. heck, i think the only preformance mod i did to my car was a K&N drop in air filter in my jetta. i also think i am actually going to go with a 5.0 probably a fox body, just because its cheaper, and probably get a newer one down the road

the aftermarket is huge for 5.0's, plenty of things available to get lots of production from a 5.0.

5.0's are a great Stang that is probably what I want to get next, then I am going to move on to a 67 Shelby.

I dont know where you got your info but my 87 Gt would run mid 14s bone stock with 2.73 gears. I would would look for a fox body to mod. Tons of parts for the 5L and they can really move for very little money.

I have a BASIC bolt on 5.0 that ran into the 13's. But some suspension and 3.55's should have me low 13's to mid range. 5.0's are fun to mod and have a vast aftermarket available. Not quite as expensive as mods for a 4.6. But stock vs stock 4.6 will win.

Hello, I just registered the other day. I too am in the market for a mustang gt. Because I'm on a small budget, I've decided to keep my car search to the '94-95 GT 5 Speed. Here's some reasons why:

You can find them for about $4000 to $6000, some with some basic bolt ons already. Even though they are used, the aftermarket is huge and engine and tranny rebuild parts are pretty cheap considering. I am actually a '95 Hondog Civic owner and well, anyway . My dad has a pretty quick '94 GT that he has gotten to go 12.85 @ 106 with a stock short block and cam and stock ported iron heads. Check the cardomain link in my sig to see all the details. Plus the sn-95 has ABS, 4 wheel disc brakes, Airbags (wife requirement), good looks and the 5.0L. Sure, its not as quick out of the box as a 99 and up GT, but for the price, not bad. Have fun with the Fox. That was my choice, but no airbags. The Fox is lighter and the engine is a little easier to make more power with than the '94-95, but only by a little. later

Red face Me 2

I am also on the prowl for a v8 mustang after selling my 8 LX 5.0

My budget allows me to go as new as a 99 GT.
The idea of getting a cheaper older model maybe even a 95 GT with the old tried/true 5.0 is turning around in my head too.

The 99 GT is probably as fast as an older stang with some mods but it is more money.

The 95 GT is cheaper but would take some money in mods to get it to go as fast as a stock 99

I think I'm stuck..........

I could look for an 87 to 93 LX 5.00 but that will probably take some time. The ones I have seen are beat or heavily modified

What do you guys think ?
