Hey guys, are the Hoosier Quick Time Radials too much for a stock differential (88 LX) with no subframe connectors? This guy was telling me that if i run the slicks ill leave the tree but my differential wont.
P.S. im not talking about a 6000RPM launch, im just looking to get traction in first and second.
Oh also i just got back from the J&P shootout at Toronto Motorsports Parkway. First time i seen a car run 6 and trap over 200 MPH
Also on the second run, one of the cars went sideways at over 200MPH but he recovered. i dont know how these guys do it.
on a normal launch it should... If the differential is an 8.8 or 9" ... you should be strong enough... a 7 will hold on normal take offs but they arent recommended for any hard power runs.
really the only thing that would go would be the axles. after a while they will snap and they will fly out of the rear end because the 8.8 has c-clips. now, i can bet that youll be able to make quite a few runs without having any problems but once you start getting around 350hp or race it often i would recommend getting 31 spline axles.

Alot of people run 8.8's without any trouble at all. I personally wouldn't go as high as 6,000 rpm. 4,000 to 4,500 should be good enough. I'll tell you next week as I am going racing on the weekend and running slicks for the first time.
BTW did you manage to snap and pix's at the J+P Shootout? If you did maybe you can post a few for all of us to see?! Thanks

well there are more variables than that. first it makes a difference on how much power the car is making, how sticky the track is, and how often the rear end is subjected to stress.
if the car is mostly stock you probably dont have any thing to worry about, but be warned if you are gettting into some serious mods that a broken axle may occur! better to be safe than sorry.
