Default To Powershift, Or Not???

I am going to the local strip this weekend. I have a 75 shot of nos. I havent tried power shifting very much. I usually just speed shift. Do you think that it would be a good idea to powershifting with the nitrous or not. Do you think that i need to practice before doing it with the nitrous. I'm afraidif i miss with the nos i will mess my motor up. What do you think?

I'd practice off the bottle first. If you miss third on the spray it could get expensive.

Yea, if you don't have a rev limiter, then don't do it. Just quickshift it for now. You should start working on powershifting slowly. Start out by quickshifting, but instead of taking your foot all the way off the gas, stay on about 1/4 throttle. Then work up to 1/2, then 3/4, then you will be a master at it. Another thing is don't go down the track like "OMG am I gonna hit the next gear?!" **shift** "YES, I got it!". I used to do that and it just makes it harder. Just practice alot and try to get to where you don't think about it. If you can just do it without thinking about it, I guarantee you will not miss a gear or over-rev. Wait till you're really good at it to powershift with nitrous. Or just get a rev limiter. :thumbsup

what year car do you have? most mustangs have a 6250 rev limiter. If your scared say your scared? a 75 shot dont seem like its a 200 shot to me. I would practice shifting off the bottle to save your nitrous too. So you dont have to fill your bottle every other day. Then if your sucessful without breaking your transmission off the bottle, hopefully you have a short throw shifter. Then take it out and mash your foot to the floor if your nitrous is set up to activate off a full throttle switch it will only be spraying your Nos when your foots at full thottle, but expect the tires to break loose most likely spraying the 75 shot on while powershifting. Dont be scared. Get good at shifting without it so your better when you spray it. Wear a helmet. Fire retardant suit etc. Maybe get a rollcage and a driveshaft safety loop. Dont want your car catapulting down the track it the yoke snaps on the tranny. But i dont think a 75 shot would feel really deathly fast. Compared to say a supercharger adding 80+ hp to what you already have. So just go run it, rip the stick out of it. See what it does. Till it blows up tear it down then rebuild it hopefully you dont lean out and melt a piston or break a rod. Good luck.
