Red face Powershifting

Okay guys, I'm new to drag racing and am just learning the basics. What i would like to know is what exactly is powershifting and is this the best way to shift while drag racing and will this be very hard on the tranny. Thanks for all of your help!

Powershifting is basicly shifting fast without ever taking your foot off the gas. And yes to get the fastest time powershifting is the way to go. But it is very hard on driveline components, clutch, trans, U-joints, etc...

powershifting is not neccessaraly bad for ur driveline if u do it right...powershifting is shifting with the clutch but having ur foot planted to the floor the hole run.. yes it does help ur e/t alot...but if u get to ahead of ur self and ur arm becomes faster then ur left leg ur t-5 will not like u alot if u no wut i meen lol ...i always thought power shifting was soo hard and **** but its really not its like riding a bike if u think about it to hard ull screw up jus dun think about it and do it....im 18 and im pretty small like 5'4 and i powershift at least twice everyday to school now its addicting....practice on street first then when u get realy good with it take ur car back to the track and ull be impressed!!!!!!!

just mash the gas and rip the stick its not that hard, oh yea it does tear the drive train up when your slaming gears at 6000 rpm just to let you know that. if you dont believe me take your transmission apart and look at the gears and you will notice they are worn. Better get a short throw shifter too helps from breaking the shift forks. Its nothing like powershifting a car, but its also like abusing it. It will eventally break especially if its a t5. they arent the greatest trannys let me tell you. Torque is what breaks things not horsepower remember that.
